Downingtown East settled that issue with a workmanlike 43-35 win over Downingtown West at neutral Coatesville, thanks, in part, to 12 points from Noelle Alicea.
The Cougars finished the regular season with a 19-2 overall record, while the Whippets finished 18-4.
The key quarter was the second when the Cougars outscored the Whippets, 15-2.
Catholic. Sarah Strybuc scored all but two of her team's points in the final quarter to help host Archbishop Ryan beat Cardinal O'Hara, 36-26, in third-place playoff.
Strybuc, who finished with 20 points to lead the Ragdolls, scored 11 of her team's fourth-quarter points as they closed the Lions out with a 13-7.
She made all six of her free throws in that quarter.
Ryan goes up against Archbishop Prendergast in the league quarterfinals on Friday night.
Cardinal O'Hara hosts Cardinal Dougherty in another quarterfinal game that night.

Brenna Coll scored 22 points, including the final two of the game with 52 seconds left, for host Dougherty in a 66-30 win over Kennedy-Kenrick.
Sara Smith had 15 points and seven rebounds for host Archbishop Prendergast in its 56-40 win over Little Flower.
Sophomore guard Amanda Linder's eight fourth-quarter points proved to be a factor in St. Hubert's 50-42 overtime win over visiting Neumann-Goretti. Linder scored all eight of her points in the fourth quarter.
Pioneer Athletic. At Pottstown, Boyertown and Methacton outclassed semifinal foes and will meet for the title tomorrow night.
Boyertown used Lauren Walker's five three-pointers to hammer Pottsgrove, 55-30, while Carly Parker scored 16 points for Methacton in a 47-30 win over St. Pius X.
Methacton and Boyertown will meet for the title tomorrow night (7 p.m.), also at Pottstown.
Bicentennial. Girard College beat visiting MaST Charter, 51-30, as Kahleah Copper scored 25 points and added eight rebounds.
Copper, a sophomore combination guard/forward, added eight rebounds and five blocked shots.
Freshman guard Stacey MacArthur scored a career-high 27 points to lead Delco Christian past visiting Morrisville, 76-37.
Teammate Emily Homan added 17 rebounds and nine blocked shots.
Denali Althouse scored 25 points to power host Christopher Dock to a 53-37 win over New Hope-Solebury.
Inter-Ac. Springside scored the first five points of overtime in a 35-29 win at Episcopal Academy. Colleen Caldwell led the Lions with 12 points.
Germantown Academy ran its record to 22-4 with a 66-20 win over visiting Baldwin as Maggie Lucas scored 21 points.
The Patriots established control early, leading, 26-4. Maggie Lucas scored 21 points to lead the Patriots. Baldwin did not get to the free throw line.
Suburban One National. Eleven players scored for host William Tennent in its 60-21 win over Truman, led by Ashley Alden's 13 points.
Suburban One American. Conference champion Cheltenham closed out the regular season with an 82-35 win at Norristown, getting 16 points apiece from Shayla Felder and Ciara Andrews. The Panthers (21-1) have taken the title 22 of the last 24 seasons.
Tri-County. Tamara Moskowitz scored 14 points and Jackie Khutorsky added 10 for host Barrack Hebrew in a 57-31 win over West-Mont Christian.
Nicole Davis led the Wings with 13 points.
Nonleague. Brianna Butler, a sophomore guard, scored 14 points for host Penn Charter in its 53-45 win over Hill School.
Penn Charter closes out league play today with a game at Baldwin, then open their portion of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Tournament with a game against either Shipley or Notre Dame on Friday.
Wylie Wilson, a junior center, scored 12 of her 22 points to key a 26-2 third quarter for Friends Select in a 62-19 win at Community Academy of Philadelphia.
Sarafina Kietzman-Nicklin added 20 points for the Falcons.
Oxford closed the game out with a 12-2 run to beat visiting Bishop Shanahan, 30-20. Erica Marvel scored 15 points to lead the Hornets.
