S.J. Girls’ Lacrosse Spotlight
Spotlight on: Clearview senior Briana Hetherington Lacrosse accomplishments: Hetherington has been a varsity performer since her freshman year in one of South Jersey's top programs. A midfielder, she was named second-team all-conference last season and has helped lead Clearview this season to a 6-2 record and the No. 4 South Jersey ranking by The Inquirer.
Spotlight on: Clearview senior Briana Hetherington
Lacrosse accomplishments: Hetherington has been a varsity performer since her freshman year in one of South Jersey's top programs. A midfielder, she was named second-team all-conference last season and has helped lead Clearview this season to a 6-2 record and the No. 4 South Jersey ranking by The Inquirer.
Lacrosse history: Hetherington, who has also played soccer and basketball, didn't begin playing lacrosse until her freshman year. "At first it was hard, but Coach [Megan] Conklin has really helped me out," Hetherington said.
Future: Hetherington will attend Fresno State on a lacrosse scholarship. "Fresno State made me a very good offer, and when I stepped on campus, I just loved it," she said.
Did you know? Hetherington, a member of the National Honor Society, plans to major in communications, specializing in television and film. "I would like to work behind the scenes, and Fresno State has a great communications department," she said.
Appealing climate: Besides being impressed with what Fresno State has to offer academically and lacrosse-wise, Hetherington admits that the California climate will be to her liking.
"It will be like spring every day," she said. "It's just beautiful there."
The final word: "I just love the sport of lacrosse," she said. "I love my teammates, competing for Clearview, and so much about lacrosse is still fresh and exciting to me."
