S. Jersey Boys: Behind Ciccarelli, Highland moves on to Group 3 final

Ciccarelli, a junior with a 6-1 record, pitched five innings of one-hit baseball, striking out one batter and walking one.

Offensively, the Tartans (19-7) rapped 11 hits, led by three hits and two RBIs each from Nick Jaconetta and Pierce Phillips, and Tyler Hinchliffe's two runs batted in.

Highland will meet Ocean City, a 5-4 winner over Hammonton in the other semifinal, for the title on Friday.

South Jersey Group 4. Washington Township defeated host Cherokee for the third time this spring, 13-0, putting the 13th-seeded Minutemen in the sectional final against Lenape.

Nick Favatella went 4 for 4 with a double, two home runs and six RBIs, while pitcher Adam Warburton struck out nine Chiefs in four innings during the two-hit shutout.

South Jersey Group 2. Buena had just three hits, but one was a home run by Tyler Callahan (three RBIs), fueling a 4-1 semifinal win over visiting Woodstown. Sawyer Brown pitched a complete-game four-hitter with seven strikeouts.

The Chiefs will meet Audubon on Friday for the title.

South Jersey Group 1. Pitman reached double figures in a games for the eighth time this season, ousting visiting Gloucester, 10-2, in the semifinals.

Nick Capelli drove in two runs and scored three times, and Ryan Dill went 2 for 3 in the Panthers' seven-hit attack.

New Egypt will make its first-ever appearance in a sectional final after bouncing visiting Riverside, 14-3, behind Mike Fassl's two-run homer, three RBIs each from Taylor Steen and Reid Anderson, and Rigo Morfin's 3-for-3, two-RBI hitting. Morfin also got the pitching win.

South Jersey Non-Public A. Two-run homers by Jimmy Yezzo and Scott Carcaise aided a seven-run fifth inning as Bishop Eustace eliminated visiting St. John Vianney, 13-3. Yezzo's home run was his 14th this season, and Carcaise hit his 12th.

South Jersey Non-Public B. Mark Zagunis poked his 98th and 99th career hits, including a three-run homer, steering Holy Cross past visiting Wilwdood Catholic, 11-7, in the quarterfinals. Tim Gallagher (3 for 4) also homered.

Burlington County. Delran won the Patriot Division championship for the second time in three years and 10th time overall by beating host Medford Tech, 4-0. Zak Pol (6-1) pitched a seven-strikeout, three-hit shutout, and Connor Hall knocked in two runs.

Golf

Matt Raudenbush toured Westwood Golf Club in 4-over-par 75 at won the trophy at the Colonial Conference Individual Championships. Raudenbush edged West Deptford's Matt Jakubowski by a stroke.
