Alexis Montagna's two-out single in the top of the seventh inning scored Samantha Barna, enabling No. 4 seed Pennsville to upset top-seeded Gloucester, 2-1, on Tuesday in a NJSIAA South Jersey Group 1 softball semifinal.

Teresa Anderson (3 for 3) homered in the fourth for the Lions' lone run off winning pitcher Dana Watkins.

Second-seeded New Egypt squeezed past No. 3 seed Maple Shade, 2-0, in the other semifinal.

South Jersey Non-Public B. Kylie Kristovich pitched her third no-hitter of the season and set the Sacred Heart record for wins (24) in a season, as the top-seeded Lions hammered No. 8 seed St. Rose, 11-0. The school mark of 23 victories was established by Amanda Reigel in 2004.

Senior shortstop Arielle Bruno fueled the Lions' offense by batting 3 for 4 with two runs, two RBIs, and four stolen bases - giving her 101 steals in her career.

Christine Matranga and Colleen O'Donnell combined for four hits and four RBIs in powering No. 2 seed Gloucester Catholic past seventh-seeded St. Joseph, 10-5.

Olivia Lawrence added two hits, including a home run, in support of winning pitcher Nicole Hagerty.

South Jersey Group 2. Top-seeded Overbrook manufactured a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out a 1-0 semifinal victory over No. 4 seed Buena.

Winning pitcher Jen Metzger started the rally with a single and moved to second on Sam Borrelli's base hit. The pair moved up on a double steal, and Metzger raced home on Nicole Snyder's slow roller up the first-base line. Metzger then worked out of a two-on, one-out jam in the seventh by inducing a pair of infield pop-ups.

Overbrook will host third-seeded Audubon in the sectional final on Thursday. The Green Wave advanced with a 2-1 triumph over No. 7 seed West Deptford.

Audubon scored in the third, when Alex Gravinese raced home on a two-out single by Sierra Chambers, and took the lead for good in the fourth when Katie Hoover's bases-loaded ground out brought in Devon Welsh.

South Jersey Group 4. Jackie Pezzato allowed five hits and one walk in keeping seventh-seeded Cherokee in check, and she also came through at the plate to lead No. 3 seed Shawnee to a 2-1 semifinal win.

Pezzato had two singles and one RBI, and Annie Johnson batted 3 for 3 and scored in a two-run rally in the fifth.

South Jersey Group 3. Jessica Zeilman's three-run homer in the first inning put third-seeded Delsea on track for an 8-1 victory at No. 2 seed Kingsway. Lauren Goderecci and Rachel Crescitelli added two RBIs each for the Crusaders.

Top-seeded Hammonton surrendered a pair of late runs to fall, 2-1, in a home semifinal against No. 4 seed Central Regional.

South Jersey Non-Public A. Camden Catholic and pitcher Laura Messina lost a heartbreaker, 1-0, to No. 5 seed Red Bank Catholic.

The fourth-seeded Irish appeared to have tied the quarterfinal on Messina's double in the sixth inning. But the run was wiped out when, on an appeal, it was ruled the runner had missed third base before heading home.

Central Jersey Group 4. Allisa Martin's two-run home run pulled seventh-seeded Rancocas Valley even in the top of the sixth, but No. 3 seed East Brunswick pushed across five runs in the bottom of the frame and then held on for an 8-5 win.

Olympic. Junior Melissa Swain picked up her 100th career hit for Paul VI to highlight a 7-6 home win over Bishop Eustace, 7-6.

Girls' Lacrosse

Caitlyn Brostrand made it two milestones in two days, becoming the first player in Camden Catholic history to score 100 goals in a season, but the Irish fell, 20-13, at Olympic Conference rival Bishop Eustace.

Brostrand, a junior center, scored six times to give her 103 on the season and 206 in her career. On Monday, Brostrand became the third player in program history to reach 200 goals with a hat trick in a 16-6 loss at Haddonfield.

Gloucester County Cup. Nicole Kovacs pumped in a pair of goals in overtime to lift Washington Township over Clearview, 12-11, in a match played at Kingsway.
