Pa. Girls: Nazareth's Cipolloni hurls no-hitter

No-hitter No. 6 came in a 10-0 quarterfinal win over visiting Phoenixville on Friday.

Cipolloni pitched all six innings, striking out 14 and walking two for the Pandas (20-0).

Alex Sawicki hit a pair of home runs for the Pandas, who also got homers from Alex Stermel and Cipolloni.

Teammate Brandy Dianno was 3 for 3.

In other quarterfinals:

Radnor sophomore Christy Von Pusch pitched a three-hitter in a 1-0 win over visiting Pottsgrove, which got a two-hitter from freshman Marissa Kinneer. Von Pusch's sacrifice fly in the first inning produced the game's only run.

Sun Valley freshman Jamie Lachall gave up only one hit in a 5-0 win over visiting Villa Maria. Lachall took a one-hitter into the top of the seventh inning before giving up a double to Alex Ciarrocchi.

Lachall also got some solid support in the field as third baseman Alie Akins made a diving stop at third and a strong throw to first to prevent a hit in the fifth inning.

Brianna Andraos, a sophomore, pitched a two-hitter for host West Chester East in its 8-0 win over Springfield (Delaware County).

District 1 Class AAAA. Erica Gritz and Kelly Goslin combined on a one-hitter for Coatesville in its 4-0 win at Garnet Valley, earning the Red Raiders their first trip to the semifinals since 1985.

Bishop Shanahan earned its first trip to the semifinals in seven years with an impressive 8-0 win over Owen J. Roberts. Sophomore Kate Poppe pitched a four-hitter, striking out seven and walking one.

Fran Carrullo, a junior, pitched her eighth complete-game shutout of the season for host Central Bucks South in its 7-0 win over North Penn. Sophomore third baseman Morgan Decker hit a two-run homer in the first inning.

District 1 Class A. In a semifinal game at Pennsbury, Bristol got a combined no-hitter from Kiersten Cain and Ashley Cantiello in a 7-0 win over rival Morrisville. Cain pitched the first five innings, striking out 11, while Cantiello finished up with three strikeouts over the final two innings.

Christopher Dock beat Delco Christian, 8-0, in the other semifinal. Holly Seiz pitched a five-hitter and Taylor Hoover was 3 for 3.

Soccer

In a game that went to 10 penalty kicks, Central Bucks South topped Council Rock North, 1-0, for the District 1 Class AAA title at Central Bucks West.

Central Bucks South's Meghan Kaminski needed to make only six saves in regulation and overtime and five more in the penalty-kick session to earn the shutout.
