Sean Collins, a standout player and former head coach at Schalick, has been named boys' basketball coach at Paulsboro.

Collins, who was an assistant this past season at Paulsboro, replaces Byron Dixon, who resigned after the season.

Collins, a starter at Monmouth University before he graduated in 2000, coached Schalick for six seasons. He won Tri-County Conference Classic Division titles in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, and the South Jersey Group 1 championship in 2005.

He also served as head coach for one year at Living Faith Christian/Apex Academy.

"It's great to get back into head coaching, especially in the Colonial Conference," Collins said. "From being an assistant, I saw the great competition in the Colonial."

Collins plans to continue teaching at Schalick, where he also serves as an assistant football coach.

Taylor steps down. Deptford athletic director Maureen Bilda said that Tim Taylor has resigned as baseball coach.

"He did a great job and will be difficult to replace," Bilda said.
