Mark Deal, a former head football coach at Maple Shade, Audubon and Gateway, has been named the new head football coach at Clearview.

He replaced longtime coach Dan Pidcock, who wasn't rehired by the school board, according to athletic director Greg Horton.

Deal returns to the head coaching ranks after serving as an assistant last year at Delsea, which won its second straight South Jersey Group 2 title.

"This is special because I live in the district and my kids go to school in the district," said Deal, who inherits a Clearview team coming off a 3-7 record. "There seems like a lot of support from the community and it's a great opportunity and I'm looking forward to it."
