The diminutive but explosive tailback burst onto the varsity scene last season, carrying 187 times for 1,500 yards and 26 touchdowns as the Knights advanced to the PIAA District 1 Class AAAA championship game.

In last year's opener against defending state titlist Liberty, of Bethlehem, Needhammer rushed 20 times for 219 yards, including a 99-yard TD, in a 42-10 romp. His five rushing TDs sparked a 35-22 win over Neshaminy in a district quarterfinal playoff.

The senior, who doubles as a strong safety, has been clocked at 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He has received interest from Bucknell, Lafayette, and Lehigh.
