Six to be inducted into South Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame

Former major-league pitcher Brett Laxton of Audubon High is among the six new inductees into the South Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame. The group will be inducted during the Hotstovers Baseball Club of South Jersey's 51st luncheon at Masso's Columbus Manor in Williamstown, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m.

The South Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame is housed at Campbell's Field, home of the Camden Riversharks.

Other former players joining Laxton are Nick Italiano (Bishop Eustace), Joe Hudson (Holy Cross), and J.J. Picollo (Cherry Hill West).

Two others will be inducted as contributors - former Courier Post sports editor Bob Kenney and Rick Ventura, the longtime president of the Tri-County Baseball League.

A former star at LSU, Laxton pitched for the Oakland A's and Kansas City Royals. Hudson is a former Boston Red Sox righthander.

Picollo, currently the assistant general manager of scouting and player development for the Kansas City Royals, and Italiano had brief minor-league careers.
