Moorestown cruises past Kingsway

Moorestown dropped just six games in 10 sets en route to winning its 22d consecutive NJSIAA sectional girls' tennis championship, 5-0, in the South Jersey Group 3 final over Kingsway on Monday at Glassboro.

The Quakers (17-3), headed for the state semifinals on Wednesday, got straight-set singles wins from Emma Allen, Breezy Maravich and Shelby Burke.

South Jersey Group 2. Spencer Ng broke the Haddonfield school record for career wins as the defending state champ Bulldogs knocked off Manasquan, 5-0, in the sectional final at Northern Burlington.

Ng, playing at third singles, notched a 6-1, 6-0 victory for her 137th career win.

South Jersey Group 1. Lexi Turcich survived a 7-6 marathon in the third set to win her first singles match and guide Haddon Township to the sectional title with a 3-2 win over Pennsville at West Deptford.

Turcich edged Brynn Buelcher, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, for the clinching point, and the Hawks (15-1) also got wins from Devon Sanford at second singles, and from the second-doubles tandem of Alexa Lindsay and Kathleen Duffy.

South Jersey Non-Public A. Bishop Eustace's bid for the South Jersey title ended with a 41/2-1/2 loss at Red Bank Catholic. Krista and Melissa Morgano earned a half point by winning the first set at first doubles in a match that was stopped after two sets.

South Jersey Non-Public B. Ranney School's Diane Scarvelli defeated Moorestown Friends' Lauren Carney, 7-5, 3-6, 10-5, at third singles in the closest match in Ranney's 5-0 sectional final win at Veterans Park.
