Pa. Boys: Council Rock North golfers hold 8-shot lead going into the second round at the state tournament
Things are looking good for the Council Rock North golf team at the PIAA state tournament in York. The Indians are leading in the team competition after the first of two days with 308 strokes and Brandon Dalinka is in second place after shooting a even-par 71 Monday at Heritage Hills Golf Club. J.D. Dornes of Manheim Township leads with a 1-under-par 70.

Dalinka's teammate Zach Herr is tied for fifth place with a 72 and Archbishop Wood's Paul Carbone Jr. is tied for seventh place with a 73. Herr and Carbone tee off at 10:10 a.m., while Dalinka and Dornes tee off with the final group at 10:20 a.m.
North is 8 strokes ahead of Peters Township in the team competition after freshman Erica Herr fired a 78 and Austin Birky carded an 87.
Soccer
The Public League playoffs got off to an exciting start as Prep Charter beat Swenson in a shoot-out, 2-1, at Gratz.
Marcos Santos tied the game, 1-1, in the second half, sending the game into overtime. Neither team scored during two overtime periods, but the Huskies got the better of the Lions in penalty kicks, 4-3.
In other first-round games:
Ty Martin scored twice and Andres Vivas added a goal to give Masterman a 3-0 win over University City at Northeast.
Julian Melciore turned aside three shots to earn the shutout in goal for the Blue Dragons.
Musa Kamara picked up a goal and an assist and helped Fels beat Frankford, 4-1.
Friends Schools. Henry Bushnell scored his third and fourth goals of the season and boosted Germantown Friends to a 4-1 win over host Friends Select.
Ibrahim Kamara and Zach Raynor also posted goals while Brendan McEwen stopped four shots for the Tigers.
Tri-County. Yazan Muasher scored twice and lifted Del-Val Friends past host Woodlynde, 3-2.
Muasher's final goal gave the Dragons a 3-0 lead.
Trey Dixon and Nick Johnston scored for the Warriors who got 14 saves from Brian Chamberlain. Brandon Dieck stopped six shots for Del-Val.
In other league games:
Buima Cooper scored the game-winning goal midway through the second half and handed Collegium a 2-1 win over visiting Kimberton Waldorf.
Cooper scored off an assist from Edwin Gitau who scored in the first half off an assist from Cooper. Greg Buracker turned aside four shots to earn the win in goal.
Alon Borohov picked up his first two goals of the season and sparked Barrack Hebrew to a 6-1 win over host Mercy Vocational.
Michael Cahana, Ron and Dan Gabbay and Daniel Hatooka also scored for the Cougars.
