Wed. Pa. boys’ and girls’ roundup: Wissahickon blanks Tennent

Guaglianone scored all four goals in the victory, coming after a six-day layoff following a first-round bye.

Jackie Hibbs assisted on two of the goals as the Trojans poured it on with three second-half scores.

More than a little rain did not stop Council Rock North from advancing. The sixth-seeded Indians, playing on their home turf field in a steady rain, got a goal and an assist from Michelle Hand in a 2-0 triumph over No. 11 Upper Dublin.

Becky Ely's first-half goal, off a corner by Hand, gave the Indians a 1-0 lead, and Hand added an insurance goal in the second half.

At Upper Dublin, Mount St. Joseph got second-half goals from Brooke Sabia and Jenna Seybert in a 2-0 win over Souderton.

Sabia scored on a penalty stroke with 12 minutes, 40 seconds left in the game and Seybert added her goal off a Natalie Tacka corner one minute later. Magic goalie Kat Matchett needed to make only four saves for the shutout.

Two goals by Kelsey LeBlanc were the difference for host Haverford High in its 3-1 win over Conestoga.

LeBlanc also assisted on Becky Bronstein's goal. Candice Stefanic scored for the Pioneers.

Girls' Volleyball

Sophia Elliot had 15 kills and three blocks to lead host Masterman past Palumbo, 25-13, 25-19, 25-23, for the Public League Class AA championship.

Central coasted past visiting Northeast, 25-11, 25-17, 25-16, to take the Class AAA league title behind Brenda Nguyen's 17 assists and 10 service aces.

Douglas outlasted host Edison, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11, to win the Class A title as Tylisha Devine had eight aces and Crysta Petroski added six kills.

Girls' Tennis

West Chester Henderson's second-seeded doubles team of Erin Bowsher and Becca Rodgers knocked off the top-seeded team of Sona Hussian and Katie Reilly of Pennsbury, 6-0, 6-1, to claim the District 1 Class AAA championship at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center.

Radnor's Cristina Grimaldi topped Wissahickon's Claire Uhle in straight sets to win the singles title.

Boys' Soccer

Franklin Towne Charter scored the first two goals of the second half and held on for a 3-2 win over Prep Charter in a Public League quarterfinal playoff at Southern.

Bill Carter, Markus Malave and Marko Udovicki scored for the Coyotes.

At Gratz, Washington used three goals from Chea Fineboy to beat Fels, 5-2.

District 1 Class A. In a quarterfinal game, host Christopher Dock got two goals from Jon Bishop in a 2-0 quarterfinal win over Church Farm.

Tri-County. Second-half goals by Jason Lee and Sam Levy gave host Perkiomen School a 2-0 win over Del-Val Friends.

Alex Moshal had two goals for host Barrack Hebrew in its 3-0 win over Woodlynde.

Daniel Raikin's first appearance in goal went smoothly as he needed to make only four saves to earn the shutout.

Nonleague. Ethan Compton scored a pair of goals for host Hill School in a 4-1 victory over West-Mont Christian.
