Maddie Lesher's early goal helped Archbishop Carroll hand Cardinal O'Hara a 2-1 defeat in the Catholic League championship field hockey game Wednesday night at Neumann University.
After Lesher scored three minutes into the game, Megan Kelly added a second-half goal on a penalty corner to hand the Lions (17-1-1) their first loss of the season.
"It was a good game, a tough loss, but a good game," O'Hara coach Marie Murphy said.
Courtney Rowe scored for the Lions.
The Patriots (14-4) dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to Cardinal O'Hara on Oct. 20.
Carroll's defense kept the pressure on the Lions, specficially thanks to the play of Maura Campbell and Kerri Hunt.
The Patriots will face Public League champion Washington for the right to earn District 12's state playoff spot.
