Chris Campbell came away more impressed with the experience than the result from Saturday's Foot Locker National Cross-Country Championship in San Diego.
Campbell, from Council Rock North, finished 39th by covering the 3.1-mile course at Balboa Park in 16 minutes, 1 second.
"I didn't run my best today," Campbell said. "I was running near the back about the entire time.
"The experience here, though, was awesome. The weather was a lot warmer than it has been back home, in the 70s, but I don't think that affected my performance at all."
Only the elite runners from across the country were invited to participate, and first place went to Lukas Verzbicas of Carl Sanberg High in Orland Hills, Ill. He won in 14:59.
