S. Jersey Boys: Waller scores 27 points in Collingswood win

Collingswood has perfected the way to start the boys' basketball season, winning its opener for the 12th season in a row on Friday night in a Colonial Conference matchup.

The Panthers defeated visiting Sterling, 82-57, as Karon Waller provided 27 points, including six first-half three-pointers. Julian Welsh-White scored 18 points, and Derek Wormley added 11, including three three-pointers.

Also in the Colonial, Haddonfield upended visiting Overbrook, 87-51, as sophomore center Chris Biddle hauled down 19 rebounds to go with 10 points, and Wyatt Polk had eight baskets and seven foul shots for 25 points.

Leading by four points at halftime, Woodbury gained some breathing room with a 14-9 third quarter in which Mike Smith scored all of his eight points, leading to a 35-28 win at Haddon Township.

Burlington County. Lloyd Smith scored 11 first-quarter points, including a trio of treys, highlighting host Holy Cross' 58-32 win over town rival Delran. John Adryan grabbed nine rebounds for the Lancers.

Florence overwhelmed visiting Riverside, 27-4, in the second quarter, featuring 11 points by Kevin Allison, and defeated the Wildcats, 56-17.

New Egypt's balanced attack produced a 69-32 win over visiting Maple Shade, as Tyler Barnes had 10 points and five rebounds, Mark Przbylkowski added 18 points and four assists, and Desmond Hubert chipped in with eight rebounds, three blocks and three dunks.

Olympic. Third-year varsity point guard Rob Poole, who will attend Siena next fall, scored a dozen points in a decisive 29-12 second quarter as Paul VI pulled away from host Triton, 78-64. The Eagles hit nine three-pointers and Triton center Dominic Scafidi posted 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Ten Eastern players scored points at Camden, led by 13 each from Devon Bell, Brett Knoblauch and Avery Walker, as the Vikings won, 71-46.

Shawnee, ranked No. 2, opened with a 68-46 win over visiting Washington Township as Joe Bodnar (25) had a three-pointer in each quarter and dealt four assists in the game.

Winslow Township's defense gave up just two first-quarter points, igniting the Eagles' 55-31 win over visiting Seneca. Austin Walker's 13 points topped a Winslow offense that inclouded nine scorers.

Tri-County. Pitman's high-powered backcourt of Dylan Colgate (28) and Luke Dickson (23) fueled the Panthers' 88-21 victory at Pennsville.

Three three-point baskets accounted for most of Jordan Fagan's game-high 12 points, steering seventh-ranked Kingsway past host Delsea, 54-25.

Double-figure scoring by Kevin Krowicki (19), Dale Ashley (12) and Kevin Smith (10) offset a 27-point game by Woodstown's Evan Hathaway and made host GCIT a 61-53 winner.Clearview made 21 of 30 foul shots to Cumberland's 5 of 10 as the visiting Pioneers prevailed, 56-46. Aquil Simmons controlled the winners' attack with 27 points.

Gloucester guard Stefano Okoro had 12 of his 23 points in a 26-13 fourth-quarter spree that wrapped up a 63-48 win at Clayton.

Anthony Scerati bowled a three-game series of 717 and teammate Alex Clapper notched a 659 to take the top two places and lead Lenape to the team title in a 22-school field at the Olympic Conference Holiday Tournament at Laurel Lanes.
