The Pennsville baseball program paid tribute to its seniors during the team's final regular season home game on Wednesday. The Tri-County Conference clash with Cumberland turned out to be the perfect platform for one of the 12th graders to showcase his talents.
The Pennsville baseball program paid tribute to its seniors during the team's final regular season home game on Wednesday.
The Tri-County Conference clash with Cumberland turned out to be the perfect platform for one of the 12th graders to showcase his talents.
Dominic Wyshinski picked up his 100th career hit in the first inning, added a three-run opposite-field home run in the second, and pitched a no-hitter in leading the Eagles to a 10-0 five-inning win.
Wyshinski batted 2 for 4 with three RBIs, and the lefthander struck out seven and walked five over five innings.
Mike Dennery also went deep for Pennsville, while Ryan Hawthorne doubled twice in going 3 for 3 with one run and one RBI, and Kenny Emmons was hit by a pitch, drew a walk, singled and knocked in three runs.
Cape-Atlantic. Curtis Gift (2 for 3, 3 RBIs) and Mike Mulligan each hit a solo home run to back the two-hit pitching of James Wood, and host Lower Cape May jumped on top early in cruising past Atlantic City, 9-1.
Boys' Tennis
Austin Harris and Karan Hiremath rallied to win at second doubles, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, lifting host Moorestown Friends over Ranney School, 3-2, in a South Jersey Non-Public B quarterfinal.
South Jersey Group 2. The second doubles tandem of Ed Cardona and Tom McGann pulled out a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) victory over Christian Torres and Dan Shevenko, making Cinnaminson a 3-2 quarterfinal winner over Buena.
Luke Grabiak battled past Matt McGaffney, 6-4, 7-5, at second singles to help host Haddonfield sweep its quarterfinal match with Lower Cape May, 5-0.
Host Middle Township edged Manasquan, 3-2, with Jon Schad rebounding for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at third singles.
South Jersey Group 4. Host Shawnee swept all three singles matches to defeat Cherry Hill East, 3-2, in a quarterfinal.
Jared Kaufman and Max Silverberg gave the Cougars something to cheer about when they outlasted Mike Cataldo and Joe Forelli, 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-1 at first doubles.
South Jersey Group 1. Jack Peterson's 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 win over Jon Sjolander at first singles helped Schalick upend host Pitman, 3-2.
Boys' Lacrosse
Kevin Burke deposited four goals and Joe Donnian recorded a hat trick for Clearview, which ran out to a 10-0 lead en route to a 16-1 win at Winslow Township in an Olympic Conference match.
Girls' Lacrosse
Alex Burris and Chandler Hart-McGonigle had two goals apiece and Alea Couch stopped seven shots, but it wasn't enough to keep Moorestown Friends from falling, 12-7, at Friends' Central in a Friends Schools League semifinal.
Friends' Central will host Friday's championship match against Germantown Friends.
Olympic. Eastern's senior appreciation night saw all seven 12th graders figure in the scoring, as the host Vikings pounded Pennsauken, 21-5.
