Quarterback Jamal McDonald, one of 14 seniors on the Penn Wood football squad, celebrated Senior Day on Saturday by scoring with less than two minutes to play to give the Patriots their first win of the season, 14-10, over visiting Chester in the Del-Val League.

Faced with a 10-8 deficit and a fourth-and-3 situation at the Chester 6-yard line, McDonald went straight up the middle on a sneak for a game-winning touchdown with 1 minute, 50 seconds remaining.

The winning drive was set up by a fumble recovery at the Chester 20-yard line.

The Patriots (1-8, 1-3) had scored just 20 points in their first eight games this season and been shut out five times, but rallied from a 10-0 halftime deficit with a safety and a TD run by sophomore fullback Joe Zahnee in the third period, setting the stage for McDonald's heroics. Chester is now 3-6 overall, 0-4 in league.
