West Catholic wins Catholic League Class AA title game, 47-8

After dropping its first five games of the season, West Catholic regrouped and rallied for six straight wins, capped off by Sunday afternoon's 47-8 thrashing of Bishop McDevitt at Northeast in the Catholic League Class AA Championship.

Senior quarterback Jaleel Reed rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another to help the Burrs (7-3 overall, 5-0 league) capture their sixth straight Catholic League title.

Running back Dave Williams rushed for 134 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns.

Bishop McDevitt (5-5, 2-3) fell behind by 47-0 before Gerald Fuller rushed for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Burrs have not lost a league game since the middle of 2006, as they have rattled off 37 straight wins, 10 of which came in the playoffs.

They now advance to face Public League AA winner Bok on Saturday at noon at 10th and Bigler in the District 1-12 subregional semifinal.
