S. Jersey Boys: Melvins' buzzer-beater lifts Winslow Township over Seneca, 52-50

Billy Johnson (15 points) and Melvins (12) led the way for the Eagles, who overcame a nine-point first-quarter deficit by closing out regulation on a 21-13 run.

Jay Daunoras had 14 points and Alex Magasic scored 12 for Seneca.

In other nonleague openers:

Mikal Harris totaled 21 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and a steal in host Woodrow Wilson's 63-53 victory over Cherokee.

Ron Curry poured in 17 of his 24 points in the first half, as host Paul VI took command early in trouncing Triton, 80-48. Jay Howard (16 points), Roosevelt Cubbage (12), and Matt Risse (10) rounded out the Eagles' double-figure scoring.

Marc Schlessel (18 points) and Jake Gurkin (14) combined for 18 points as Cherry Hill East ran out to a 33-17 halftime lead, and Guy Sehinger chipped in a dozen points in the Cougars' 61-36 victory at Timber Creek.

Kyle Green had 22 points for host Camden Catholic, which received scoring from 14 players in an 81-35 demolition of Northwest Prep.

Burlington County. Ronny Paden popped in 23 points and Tyrell Maloney netted 17 to key Willingboro's 60-43 victory at Northern Burlington.

Tariq Jett shot 10 for 14 from the foul line in scoring 22 points, and Ben Hills added 16 points to power Rancocas Valley over host Pemberton, 65-33. Malcolm Mason's 17 points paced the Hornets.

Tri-County. Ray Lawry caught fire in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of his 23 points in a game-ending, 24-12 run that rallied host Kingsway past Delsea, 65-61. Brad Fagan added 16 points for the Dragons, while Delsea's Cedric Ellerby took scoring honors with 25 points.

Zack Smick tossed in 20 points, Chris Washington posted a double-double with 16 points and a dozen rebounds, and Marcus Johnson snared six steals to guide host Woodstown past GCIT, 56-47. The Cheetahs' Sean Gahagan had a game-high 21 points.

Colonial. Trey Thatcher scored all of his 13 points in the second half, Logan Murray grabbed 13 rebounds, and Dave Cuneo (16 points) provided a clutch layup with 1 minute, 30 seconds to go, enabling host Haddon Township to hold off Lindenwold, 35-32.

Cape-Atlantic. Matt Bosch battled inside for 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Chris Turner dealt six assists to go with his 11 points in Ocean City's 49-39 defeat of visiting Bridgeton. Karma Segers scored 20 for the Bulldogs.

Middle Township placed four scorers in double figures, led by Tommy Feraco's 12 points, in a 60-46 home win over Hammonton.
