Wildwood girls edge Schalick

Jessica Freeman caught fire in the second half, pouring in 21 of her 30 points over the final two quarters, to enable Wildwood to escape with a 50-49 win at Schalick on Tuesday in Tri-County Conference girls' basketball.

The Cougars were led by Joyce Perry (13 points) and Nikki Adams (12).

In other Tri-County action:

Beth Shivers and Chelsea Schmidt had 14 points apiece to help Glassboro outlast host Woodstown, 47-42, in double overtime. The Wolverines' Kayla Mayers scored all of her 13 points after halftime.

Sophomore guard Rachel Rivell scored all of her 14 points in the first quarter, and host Kingsway used a 14-2 third-quarter blitz to pull away from Highland, 45-28.

Cara McHenry's 18 points proved just enough for Gloucester Catholic to hold on for a 39-37 win at Deptford. Samantha Shockey and Immane Bussie had 10 points each for the Spartans, who went scoreless over the final two minutes - including an ill-fated three-point attempt at the buzzer.

Senior forward Raven Coleman pulled down eight rebounds to go with a career-high 14 points in Williamstown's 55-25 rout of visiting Cumberland.

Sydney Thompson (13 points) scored eight in a game-opening 29-1 run that put host Gloucester on track for a 58-10 rout of Pennsville. Madison McClintock fashioned a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Johanna James dealt four assists to go with 11 points for the Lions.

Dominique Hassinger's 12 points paced Delsea, which shook off a sluggish start to cruise, 39-23, at Clearview.

Colonial. Ellie O'Neill capped her 19-point effort by scoring eight in the fourth quarter, carrying host Collingswood past Haddon Heights, 42-36.

Tyler Frankowski (18 points) and Maddie Lord (14) spearheaded a long-range assault that sent Audubon to a 46-36 victory at Woodbury.

West Deptford received scoring from nine players, led by Megan Kirschling's 14 points, in waltzing past visiting Overbrook, 44-13.

Burlington County. Rachel Dortch led Northern Burlington's balanced attack with 11 points, and the host Greyhounds mounted a 21-7 third-quarter charge to run away from Pemberton, 49-25. Jasmine Poole scored a game-high 18 points for the Hornets.

Cape-Atlantic. Sacred Heart wasted no time in taking command, storming out to a 26-7 lead in punishing host Pleasantville, 72-32. Tay-Tay Loatman's 19 points led four Lions scorers in double figures.

Paige Mortellitte's 18 points were not enough for Hammonton, which fell at Wildwood Catholic, 42-31. Gabby Gillespie picked up 8 of her 10 points in the second half for the Crusaders, who climbed out of an early 10-3 hole.

N.J. Vocational Tournament. Rebecca Hall led the way with 18 points as Westampton Tech doubled up Pennsauken Tech, 52-26, to win the South Jersey championship and earn a berth in the state tournament.

Sherryl Burg's 12 points were more than enough for Medford Tech, which rolled over Atlantic County Tech, 33-11, in the consolation game.

Nonleague. Sandra Udobi connected on her first four shots from the floor and went on to produce 21 points and 14 rebounds, and Crystal Simmons came through with 13 points and 10 assists to lift host Life Center over Hun School, 56-51.

The tandem of Chelsea Titus (14 points) and Ashli Cooper (12) powered host King's Christian past Doane Academy, 50-19.

The Palmyra High School Hall of Fame committee is seeking nominations for induction in the class of 2012.
