Mike Griffin finished with a modest seven points but his late three-pointer made the difference as Abington held off visiting Council Rock North, 54-51, in a Suburban One National Conference basketball game Tuesday night.

Griffin nailed the trey with less than a minute to play to provide a four-point lead and the Ghosts held on to win.

Jordan Simmons scored a team-high 13 points and was aided by Anthony Durham's 11. Senior forward Aaron Goodman led C.R. North with 17 points.

Also in the Suburban One, North Penn turned a close game into a rout as it rolled over visiting Pennridge, 63-48. The Knights trailed by three points entering the fourth before outscoring Pennridge, 25-13, in the final period.

Wes Brooks finished with a team-high 16 points as he nailed all six of his free throws. Tim Abruzzo hit seven threes for Pennridge. Keiron Bolger knocked down five threes and Pennsbury easily downed visiting Neshaminy, 60-39. Tyler Katz finished with 23 points and three threes for the Redskins.

Ches-Mont. Great Valley head coach Jim Nolan picked up his 200th career win with a 50-25 rout of visiting Unionville. He's in his 16th season as head coach.

Kennett missed a three at the end of regulation and Octorara held on to win on the road, 68-65.

Tri-County Senior point guard Dhameer Gardner dropped a game-high 20 points as Collegium Charter had no trouble with visiting Barrack Hebrew, 56-41.

Public League. Jai Williams was a force inside as Philadelphia Electric knocked off visiting Communications Tech, 68-63. Williams grabbed 12 rebounds, blocked six shots, and finished with 17 points. Hakeem Baxter scored a game-high 24 points to aid Williams.

Maurice Watson dished out 10 assists to go along with his game-high 17 points as Boys' Latin trumped visiting Prep Charter, 65-50. He was aided by Ahadafi Robinson's eight rebounds.

Bicentennial. Tyler Williams dropped a team-high 31 points to help visiting Springfield (Montco) slip past MaST Charter, 63-62.

The hosts were led by Eric Williams' game-high 33 points.

Dustin Vitale dropped a career-high 32 points to help Calvary Christian knock off visiting Phil-Mont Christian, 72-65. The junior forward scored 12 points in the second quarter and shot 10 for 11 from the line.

Nonleague. With four players scoring in double figures, Shipley easily rolled at Atlantic Christian, 72-46.

Senior small forward Chima Nwakpuda dropped a team-high 19 points and recorded eight rebounds and two blocks.

Amir Johnson converted on a putback with 2.5 seconds left in regulation as Community Academy of Philadelphia rallied to top visiting Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, 59-57.

Stephen Smith scored all 17 of his points to lead La Salle at Spring-Ford, 62-39.


John Pires scored a first-period pin at 106 pounds to help host St. Joseph's Prep knock off Chestnut Hill, 40-30, in a nonleague match.
