Here's a closer look at the players named to the first-team defense on The Inquirer's All-Southeastern Pennsylvania football team.
Linemen
Andrew Cohen, Council Rock South. For the Golden Hawks, the hard-nosed Cohen, never taking a play off, was a two-way force.
Connor Mahoney, Malvern Prep. Strong and aggressive, the Northwestern recruit was a dependable run-stopper for the Friars.
Mike McGlinchey, Penn Charter. With his imposing frame and nasty streak, McGlinchey is coveted by Division I programs.
Bryan Osei, Abington. Osei, who chipped in as a first-year offensive tackle, is expected to play weakside defensive end at Temple.
Kiser Terry, Neshaminy. After a slow start, Terry made 47 tackles, including 29 solos. He will join Osei on North Broad Street.
Linebackers
P.J. Gallo, Council Rock South. Early on, the Maryland recruit showed a team-first approach by moving from end to linebacker.
Joe Nilan, Malvern Prep. Also a stalwart at fullback, Nilan was named the Inter-Academic League's most valuable player.
Ralph Reeves, North Penn. With his eye-catching hustle, Reeves, a solid short-yardage rusher, was always around the ball.
T.J. White, West Chester Henderson. He has scholarship offers from Bucknell, Villanova, and Western Michigan.
Defensive backs
Dan Gevirtz, North Penn. This do-everything type played a major role in the Knights' turnaround after a 1-2 start.
William Parks, Germantown. The Pittsburgh recruit stood out at no fewer than four positions for the Bears.
Brandon Shippen, Norristown. His speed in the back was key for the Eagles. The Temple recruit also rushed for 1,105 yards.
Nate Smith, Archbishop Wood. With his speed, the West Virginia recruit made countless big plays for the Vikings.
Punter
Ben Solis, Council Rock South. He will take his kicking talents to Division I-AA Stony Brook.
