Sat. Pa. wrestling roundup: VFMA's Fister remains unbeaten

The senior improved his season record to 16-0. He had already captured first place in his weight class this season at the both the Chestnut Hill and Germantown Academy tournaments.

Westtown won the team title with 188.5 points, followed by Episcopal Academy at 154, and Bishop McDevitt at 112 points.

Westtown placed four wrestlers in the top two of their weight classes, including three first-place winners. In a close decision at 182 pounds, the Quakers' Sam Eckrich won, 3-2, over Episcopal's Thomas Cusack.

Cody Russell was one of three Episcopal wrestlers to capture first place in their weight class, as the Churchmen had five wrestlers reach the finals of their weight classes.

Russell pinned Frankell Mack of Mastery Charter in 1:02 at 220 pounds. He was joined by Luke Broomall, who captured first at 126 pounds, and Anthony Feliziani, who finished first at 170 pounds.

Harriton Ram Duals. Upper Dublin won all five of its matches and clinched the tournament title with a 49-18 win over Academy Park. Ben Greenwood scored a 9-0 major decision over Erin Orange at 126 pounds as the Cardinals sealed the win with three straight wins from 126 to 138 pounds. Academy Park's Rian Maurer recorded the quickest pin of the match by taking down Richard Lee in 51 seconds at 120 pounds.

Steve Volovar won each of his five matches at 132 pounds, including a 3:43 pin of Terry Murdock in the final.

NHSCA Festival. Germantown Academy finished in third place behind the nation's two top teams at the tournament in Brodheadsville, Pa. GA 138-pounder Chris Yankowich and 220-pounder Nick Grossi both went 5-0. B.J. Crozier at 145 pounds and Keith Corliss at 195 pounds each went 4-1.

The Patriots fell to second-place finisher St. Edwards (Ohio), 58-18. St. Edwards is ranked No. 2 in the nation by Intermat. Blair Academy (N.J.) captured the tournament title and is ranked first in the nation.

Chichester Tournament. Alex Santucci won five times at 170 pounds for host Chichester as the Eagles won three of their five matches. Santucci scored four pins and one decision, including a 3:34 pin of Roman Catholic's William Sweeney.

Pioneer. Pottsgrove won five matches by fall as it cruised past host Phoenixville, 58-12. Danny Michaels scored the quickest pin by taking down Paul Hossler in 45 seconds at 182 pounds.

Nonleague. Boyertown downed Lower Dauphin, 35-32, as it won just one of its three four home meets. Eddie Kriczky defeated Lower Dauphin's Lee Cassell, 10-1, at 126 pounds. He then won by an injury default over Cumberland Valley's Alex Wolfe, as Boyertown fell, 61-18.

Kennett was able to win just three matches as it fell to visiting River Hill, 63-12. Colton Chew scored a 13-0 major decision at 145 pounds to lead the Blue Demons.
