S.J. Group 1. Haddon Heights beat host Haddon Township for the second time in six days, 35-26, and advanced to the semifinals against Paulsboro. Tyler Raws edged the Hawks' Marvin Gapa, 5-3, at 145 pounds, and Griffin Demenna added a 9-1 major decision at 132.
S.J. Group 3. Cherokee overpowered visiting Egg Harbor Township, 42-19, behind
S.J. Non-Public B. Holy Spirit earned a semifinal berth at Camden Catholic with a 54-24 win over visiting Gloucester Catholic. Five first-period pins fueled the Spartans, including Dom LaFragola's 14-second fall at 285 and Justin Phillips' 55-second pin at 126.
Nonleague. Pins by Robert McNeil (126), Thomas McNeill (138) and Andrew Pinkston (145) contributed to Winslow Township's 47-28 success at Overbrook.
Gateway/Woodbury escaped from Pitman with a 37-33 win, getting key decisions by three-point margins from Matt Sparks (113) and Jarrid Saurillo (120).
Gloucester won on its home mats, 48-25, over visiting Penns Grove as Devon Causey (126) and Dan Laluk (138) claimed first-period pins.
Northern Burlington blanked host Palmyra, 72-0, with Billy Stout's 16-1 technical fall among the 10 contested weights.
Boys' Basketball
Rancocas Valley pulled off a 58-56 nonleague upset of visiting Holy Spirit, ranked No. 6 in South Jersey by The Inquirer. Tariq Jett led the Red Devils, who rallied from a 34-27 halftime deficit, with 19 points and Ben Hills added 18.
Kali Boyce sparked a comeback from a 30-29 halftime deficit as Williamstown edged host Winslow Township, 54-50. Boyce saved 16 of his 25 points for the second half, including all of the Braves' 10 in the final period.
Tri-County. Kingsway outscored visiting Deptford by 15-10 in overtime to take a 60-55 triumph. Brad Fagan, who collected 16 points and 13 rebounds, scored eight in the extra period.
Ge'Shawn Davis scored 11 of his 18 points in a 30-18 first half that guided Penns Grove past host Highland, 52-45.
Girls' Basketball
West Deptford opened the tournament with a 45-43 thriller over visiting Woodstown. Down by a point with 20 seconds left, the Eagles' Megan Kirschling got a steal and a layup with 15 seconds to go for a 44-43 lead, and Megan Knoblock added a final foul shot.
Kingsway got a game-high 19 points from Caroline Otten and held off visiting Florence down the stretch to claim a 45-43 win. Heather Horner paced the Flashes with 16 points.
In other first-round action, Eastern handled visiting Westampton Tech, 52-39, with balanced scoring Danielle Genay (12), Cari Winiarski (11) and Jewel Wilson (11).
Bordentown junior Kelly Yanucil hit a season-best four three-pointers in a 12-point performance that inspired the Scotties' 45-25 win over visiting Collingswood.
Sterling advanced via a 62-55 win over visiting Cinnaminson. Tyra Satchell and Anyssa Sanchez fueled the Silver Knights with 21 points each.
Nonleague. Val Pineiro's 10-foot jumper with 6 seconds remaining proved to be decisive for Audubon in a 42-41 win over visiting Schalick. Down by 21-9 at halftime, the Green Wave got 16 second-half points by Maddie Lord (19).
Seneca came back from a 33-20 halftime deficit and handed host Lenape its third loss of the season, 53-50. Taylor Watson and Brittany Snow rallied the Golden Eagles with 15 points apiece.
Jackie McClellan boosted her career total to 961 points with a team-high 13 for Maple Shade in a 46-36 win over visiting Moorestown Friends.
