Thurs. Pa. boys' roundup: Fernandez triple lifts Boys' Latin

Freshman catcher Manny Fernandez hit a three-run triple in the eighth inning, and Boys' Latin held on to top host Germantown, 11-9, on Thursday in a Public League baseball game.

Asa James posted the win with five innings of relief. Khary Redmond started for Germantown and received a no-decision with 14 strikeouts and one walk.

Also in the Public League, Buddy Dessus fanned 10 in five innings and Shafeeq Coleman slammed a two-run homer in the third as host Overbrook topped Dobbins, 10-0. After Coleman's homer, he was intentionally walked in his next three plate appearances.

Ethan Reese struck out a career-high 14 batters en route to a shutout as Science Leadership blanked visiting Strawberry Mansion, 10-0. The sophomore righthander also went 4 for 4, scored twice and drove in two runs.

Catholic. Junior leftfielder Gage Galeone went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs to lift Archbishop Ryan at Father Judge, 10-2. Chris Elmes struck out 10 for the win.

Jawan McAllister went 2 for 3 from the leadoff spot to help St. Joseph's Prep roll over visiting Roman Catholic, 10-0. McAllister stole a base and scored twice. Ryan Winton earned the win, striking out four.

Inter-Ac. Robert Gorman went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBIs as Germantown Academy eased past host Chestnut Hill, 11-7. John Aiello went 2 for 5 with a pair of runs scored, and Mike Fitzgerald added a triple. Dan Hull had four RBIs and a homer for Chestnut Hill.

Central. Dave Dimeglio ripped an RBI single in the eighth inning to give host Ridley a 3-2 win over Springfield (Delco). Matt Bayes had tied the game in the seventh for the Green Raiders with a single.

Dan Moyer drove in four runs to lead Lower Merion over visiting Marple Newtown, 9-5. Moyer finished 3 for 4 and scored once. Joe Kelly had a homer for Marple.

Luke Mogle went 2 for 3 with a three RBIs as Conestoga dropped visiting Harriton, 9-3. Mogle's RBI triple in the fifth highlighted the Pioneers' six-run frame. Jordan Little posted the win out of the bullpen with five strikeouts and two walks.

Penn-Jersey. Meckel Strickland struck out seven in seven innings and walked one to lift Girard College over Doane Academy, 5-1. Chris Scott scored a run and added two hits.

Tri-County. Noah Kauffman struck out 11 and walked three in seven innings as Perkiomen School downed visiting West-Mont Christian, 5-1. Joe Pena added a pair of RBIs and two runs scored.

Del-Val. Dan Ouimette struck out eight and walked two to help Interboro knock off Chichester, 4-2. Kyle Cashin drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth with a single.

Nonleague. Mike Greenwood threw a complete game and host Upper Merion cruised past Pottsgrove, 8-3. He struck out two and walked three. Tommy Drakeford went 2 for 2 with a run scored and a RBI.

Lacrosse

Jake Durkin scored twice and added two assists to help Hatboro-Horsham to its sixth straight win, a 10-5 victory over visiting Spring-Ford in a nonleague game. Steve Palo won 11 of his 17 faceoffs and Mark Poust recorded eight saves for the Hatters (7-2).

Ben Winebrake and Drew Potts each had two goals to help Upper Dublin down visiting Interboro, 10-5.
