14 area players picked for East-West game

Fourteen players from Southeastern Pennsylvania are scheduled to play in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association's East-West All-Star Game, scheduled for May 6 in Monroeville, Pa.

Fourteen players from Southeastern Pennsylvania are scheduled to play in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association's East-West All-Star Game, scheduled for May 6 in Monroeville, Pa.

Expected to compete for the East squad are Central Bucks South running back Daniel Brown, Academy Park wide receiver Mark Doe, Downingtown East defensive back Nick Dudley, C.B. South quarterback Matt Johns, Cardinal O'Hara defensive end Shane Johnson, Neshaminy offensive lineman Chris Kutsubos, Academy Park defensive lineman Jeremiah Lowery, West Catholic offensive lineman Mike Makur, Neshaminy wide receiver Bobby Marterella, Marple Newtown running back Cimirrow Moat, Germantown defensive back Will Parks, North Penn linebacker Ralph Reeves, Norristown defensive back Brandon Shippen, and North Penn defensive end Shayne Watson.

Upper Darby head coach Rich Gentile will be one of the East's assistant coaches.

The game will begin at 2 p.m. at Gateway High School in Monroeville, about 13 miles east of Pittsburgh.

The East-West All-Star Game began in 2001 and has been played every year except 2011, when it was derailed by sponsorship and other issues. The 2013 game is scheduled for Downingtown West, where this year's East team will practice on the next two Sundays.
