Kristen DiGuglielmo stroked a double to score Casey Clark with the winning run in the seventh inning, as Cherry Hill East edged the host Quakers, 4-3, on Saturday in the championship of the Moorestown softball tournament.
DiGuglielmo was named MVP of the title game, and teammate Andi Leff earned tournament MVP honors with a 2-run triple in the sixth inning that rallied the Cougars past Collingswood, 2-1, in the opener.
Cherry Hill East received solid pitching throughout the day, with Gabby Whiteley limiting Collingswood to five hits and three walks in winning the first game, and Michelle Fachias yielding three hits, two walks and one earned run in the title game.
Jackie D'Argenio singled twice and scored a pair of runs, and Audrey Weller posted her seventh win of the season by tossing a three-hit shutout in Moorestown's 5-0 opening-round victory over Penns Grove.
Hammonton Tournament. Shawnee will face Washington Township, and Kingsway will take on Williamstown in the semifinals - scheduled for Sunsay at Hammonton.
Shawnee opened by edging Buena, 3-2, and followed up by outslugging Gloucester Catholic, 19-11.
Washington Township had its offense in gear, running past Rancocas Valley, 10-1, in the first round, and dispatching Delsea, 10-4, in a quarterfinal.
After edging Vineland, 5-4, Kingsway took down Haddon Heights, 8-2.
Williamstown wiped away West Deptford, 10-0, before defeating host Hammonton, 7-4.
The semifinals are set to begin at 1 p.m., folowed by the championship game at 3 p.m.
Tri-County. Erynn Sobieski struck out seven and scattered seven hits and one walk in pitching her fifth shutout of the season, and Taylor Favinger homered as host GCIT pounded Pennsville, 10-0.
Taylor Thomas batted 3 for 4, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs, and Lindee Janzer was 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Cheetahs.
Host Gloucester scored five times in the bottom of the fifth inning to finish off Glassboro, 11-1.
Meghan Ryan went 2 for 3 with four RBIs and two runs scored, and Melissa Mackey knocked in two runs with a single and a home run for the Lions.
