Williamson sets mark for GFS girls' lacrosse

Iris Williamson scored five goals and became the all-time career scoring leader in girls' lacrosse at Germantown Friends as the host Tigers downed the Hun School, 17-11, in a nonleague game Monday.

The senior captain scored her second goal in the first half to eclipse Betsy Sachs' school record of 196 goals set in 2010. She added two assists and won five draw controls.

Williamson, a midfielder who will play at Penn next year, finished the game with 200 career goals and has 30 this season.

In other nonleague action, junior Sophie Katz recorded her 100th career goal and Shipley rolled at Barrack Hebrew, 18-3. The milestone came on her third goal as the midfielder finished with a hat trick and two assists.

Julia Vanni's lone goal was the game-winner with 1 minute, 22 seconds left to lift St. Basil over visiting Little Flower, 8-7. Brynn Conroy led the hosts with three goals.

Nora McCallion recorded five assists to help Notre Dame top host Hatboro-Horsham, 16-13. Delaney Tuite scored nine times and Carlyann McCabe had five goals.

Amanda McAteer and Mel Ryan scored four goals each to help Upper Merion slip past host Upper Perkiomen, 14-12.

Boys' Lacrosse

Matt Figueroa's three goals helped Abington roll at Holy Ghost Prep, 10-6, in a nonleague game. Travis O'Connor sealed the win with 11 saves and Shane Dunn and Max Malloy scored twice each.

Central. Kelton Heverly scored four goals and Kevin Benson added a pair as Ridley eased past host Harriton, 14-5. Heverly and Benson added two assists each.

Public. Nick DiMartin and A.J. Suhlunis scored twice each to help Washington turn away Mastery Charter Shoemaker, 6-1, at Southern.

Also at Southern, Eric O'Brien's five goals and one assist helped Northeast down Del-Val Charter, 12-5.

Softball

Julia Moriarty went 2 for 3 and scored four times as Springside outslugged visiting Penn Charter, 16-11, in an Inter-Ac Legaue game.

Moriarty walked twice and drove in a pair of runs. Danielle Sienko hit two doubles for Penn Charter.

Central. Courtney Eubanks fanned six and walked none as Ridley topped visiting Marple Newtown, 4-1. Along with the complete-game win, she went 3 for 4 with an RBI.

Freshman Taylor Eubanks helped extend Ridley's lead with a run-scoring double in the sixth inning and finished 2 for 4.

Boys' Track and Field

West Catholic's Todd Townsend won both the 300-meter hurdles (40.3 seconds) and the 110 hurdles (16.3) at the seven-team Catholic League meet at Benjamin Rush.

St. Joseph's Prep finished atop the team standings with 152 points in a tune-up for Sunday's Catholic League South Division championship at La Salle.
