Wed. Pa. boys' roundup: Father Judge prevails in nine innings

Hearn doubled to lead off the ninth and scored as junior catcher Ryan Mackiewicz doubled to end the game. Hearn, a senior shortstop, finished with three hits and two runs scored.

Junior righthander Josh Teson pitched all nine innings for the Crusaders, struck out a career-high six, and walked two. He needed 117 pitches for the complete game.

In other Catholic League action, La Salle rolled at Cardinal O'Hara, 13-3. Dom Cuoci fanned seven and walked none in seven innings. He added three RBIs, a double, and a triple.

Pioneer. Junior rightfielder Chris Demey made his first start and drove in three runs to lead host Phoenixville over Pottsgrove, 12-7. Shae Ferguson went 2 for 3 with three RBIs.

Zach Harmon went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs to lift Methacton over visiting Perkiomen Valley, 6-4.

Central. Shane Donnelly's two-run triple in the fifth inning was enough for Penncrest to top host Haverford High, 2-1. John Geffre posted the win with six innings pitched. Chris Pokorny had two hits for the Fords.

Ches-Mont. Christian Barrett struck out five in relief to post the win as Great Valley topped Oxford, 5-3. Great Valley pulled ahead with a two-run fifth inning in which Brendan Tighe was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and David Iacobucci singled in a run.

West Chester Henderson's Greg McLaughlin pitched two scoreless innings in relief and scored the winning run on a two-out error in the seventh to jolt visiting rival West Chester East, 4-3.

Suburban One. Brian Rhindress fanned four in six innings and walked one to help visiting Upper Merion edge Cheltenham, 6-5.

Mid-Atlantic Prep. Kyle Tipping stole home in the fourth inning as Hill School jumped out to a four-run lead en route to downing Blair Academy, 4-3. Tipping posted the complete-game win with one strikeout. Seth Regensburg recorded three RBIs.

Nonleague. Brian McDonough went 2 for 2 with a run scored and one RBI as Malvern Prep blanked Caravel (Del.), 7-0. Drew Luzzi pitched the first five innings and fanned one for the win.

Senior outfielder Pat Foley went 1 for 3 with two RBIs to help Chestnut Hill knock off visiting Friends' Central, 6-2.

Tennis

Wissahickon won its third straight Suburban One League American Conference title, 5-2, at Upper Dublin. Matt Schulman and Lee Beckman clinched the match with a 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 win over Adam Chernow and Matt Swiren at second doubles.

Catholic. La Salle cruised to a 5-0 win over visiting Roman Catholic in the league semifinals. Brian Stefanowicz topped G.P. Mars, 6-0, 6-0, at first singles for the Explorers.
