Pa. Boys: Catcher saves day as Conestoga wins

With the bases loaded and the potential go-ahead run stepping up to the plate, Conestoga called on its catcher to get the Pioneers out of the seventh-inning jam and seal a 6-4 win over visiting Springfield (Delco) on Thursday in a Central League baseball game.

Senior catcher Brian Dixon moved from behind the plate to the mound and got the last three outs to earn the save. The lone run allowed came on a sacrifice fly, and he ended the game with a 1-6-3 double play.

Jordan Little had two RBIs for Conestoga, and Luke Mogle went 3 for 3 with a triple and one RBI. Second baseman Jake Carr turned two unassisted double plays.

In other Central League action, Kevin Connor took a perfect game into the seventh inning before allowing a pair of hits as visiting Radnor held off Ridley, 5-2. Connor finished with 13 strikeouts.

Leftfielder Jake Rosenberg had three hits and scored twice to lift Harriton at Lower Merion, 5-2.

Caedon Saltis went 3 for 5 with three RBIs to help Strath Haven easily down Upper Darby, 14-4.

Suburban One. Joe Unangst drove in two sixth-inning runs to help host Pennridge edge Central Bucks South, 6-4.

Jake Drossner struck out nine and walked one to help Council Rock North roll at William Tennent, 9-0.

Junior Max German went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. He stroked a two-run single in the fourth inning to help the Indians pull away.

Tri-County. Senior righthander Jesus Colon fanned 17 batters in seven innings and scattered three hits as Phelps downed host West-Mont Christian, 4-0. The Marshall University recruit has 107 strikeouts and is 7-1.

Pioneer. Bobby O'Connor posted a complete-game shutout as host Pope John Paul II blanked Methacton, 3-0. Kyle Early knocked in two runs, and Dave Cottelese had two hits.

Public. Boys' Latin used power from its ninth spot in the order to top host Saul, 11-8. Asa James went 4 for 4 from the nine hole and slammed a three-run homer in the first.

Catholic. Joe Kinee struck out six and drove in two runs as Neumann-Goretti blanked host Lansdale Catholic, 7-0.

Lacrosse

Evan Mok-Lamme tied the game with a second left in regulation and won it 2 minutes into overtime as Westtown topped host Moorestown Friends, 7-6, in a Friends Schools League game.

Mok-Lamme scored the winner from the ground after he was checked five yards from the goal.

Ches-Mont. Senior attack Evan Allvord scored twice in each half to lead Kennett over visiting Avon Grove, 10-6. Junior attack Matt Worrall added four assists.

Inter-Ac. Reid Weber scored four times and Jake Adoni stopped 23 shots as Haverford School knocked off host Germantown Academy, 11-9.

Central. Connor Frisina's four goals and three assists helped Conestoga down visiting Strath Haven, 10-4. Brad Lord added a pair of assists.
