Fri. Pa. boys' roundup: Henderson surges past Shanahan

Cooper Redding hit a two-run homer to tie the score at 6, and Chas McCormick slapped a go-ahead triple. Redding also hit a double. Ashton Short went 2 for 4 for Shanahan and hit a two-run homer in the fifth to provide a 5-4 lead.

Inter-Ac. Matt Rowland didn't need time to get comfortable, as he slammed a first-pitch, walk-off home run in the eighth inning as host Chestnut Hill topped Episcopal Academy, 3-2.

The Blue Devils tied the game in the seventh with a sacrifice fly from Matt Primavera. Pat Foyle scored the tying run after he knocked in Craig Alleyne on a single to make the score 2-1. Tim Menninger posted the win in relief with two innings pitched and one strikeout.

Robert Gorman and Dan Hoy each had three RBIs and Germantown Academy won at Haverford School, 8-4.

Suburban One. Chris Ender's triple in the top of the eighth scored Phil Marks from second base, and Council Rock North broke a scoreless tie to top host Pennsbury, 1-0. Marks had reached on a fielder's choice and stolen second base. Matt Rench posted the win with two relief innings. Nate English made the start and went six innings and struck out four.

Chris Ruhl hit a two-run double and Zak Gross had a pair of hits as Council Rock South dropped host Abington, 6-3. Jeff Miller posted the win with a pair of strikeouts in five innings.

Pioneer. Matthew Purnell went 2 for 3 with a run scored and one RBI as Boyertown downed Methacton, 5-4. Aaron Bogucki posted the complete-game win with seven strikeouts and also hit a double.

Nonleague. Sam Levy was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the eighth, and Abington Friends walked off with a 10-9 win over visiting Phil-Mont Christian. Jesse Dougherty scored the winning run.

Hermes Baez grounded to the shortstop in the bottom of the seventh to score Luiny Monegro for the winning run as Church Farm downed visiting Glen Mills, 8-7.

Jordan Pocrass struck out six and walked two as Lower Moreland rolled at Bishop McDevitt, 14-1. Ross Goodman went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Callan Palmer added a pair of runs scored and two RBIs.

Lacrosse

Matt Krewson scored twice and set up two goals as Springfield (Montco) downed host Norristown, 11-6, in a nonleague game. Brendan Doyle scored a game-high five goals.

In other nonleague action, Connor Crump collected four assists and two goals as Germantown Academy downed Chestnut Hill, 14-6. Reid Weber had eight goals.

Tennis

Wissahickon's Ricardo Prince won his third consecutive Suburban One American Conference doubles title, as he teamed with Claire Uhle to down Andrei Tulic and Justin McNabb, 6-0, 6-0, in the final. Prince also captured the singles title on April 21.
