Larrier paces Phelps to win over Malvern Prep

Terry Larrier wasted little time making an impact Tuesday afternoon in his first basketball game with Phelps, as he led the Lions to a 43-38 win at Malvern Prep in a nonleague game.

The 6-foot-8 junior guard poured in a game-high 18 points, and Phelps built an eight-point halftime lead en route to the victory.

Larrier transferred to Phelps from Our Saviour Lutheran in New York and has offers from Delaware, Drexel, and Fordham.

Marcus Floyd, a sophomore point guard, chipped in 11 points.

Malvern Prep was led by Sam Ramagano's 16 points. Teammate Ryan Ammerman added seven points.

In other nonleague action:

Pat Dooley knocked down a three-pointer from the corner at the buzzer to lift Springside Chestnut Hill over host Friends' Central, 56-55.

Pat Costello led the Blue Devils with 15 points and dished the game-winning assist to Costello. Friends' Central missed two free throws with eight seconds left.

Karonn Davis' 21 points and seven rebounds led the Phoenix.

Sean O'Brien scored 14 of his game-high 18 points in the first quarter as Penn Charter raced past host Germantown Friends, 81-46. Chase Kumor chipped in with 15 points, and Demetrius Isaac added 17.

Greg Dotson's 19 points and James Drury's 13 helped Germantown Academy ease past visiting Princeton Day, 75-53.

Julian Moore, a 6-10 senior ticketed for Penn State, grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 21 points. Nick Linder, a senior point guard headed for Lafayette, dished out 11 assists.

Abass Koroma's game-high 21 points helped Collegium Charter cruise past visiting Moyer Academy, 63-43. Shawn Woods contributed 20 points.

Junior small forward Darryl Bryant scored eight of his 19 points in the second quarter as Academy of the New Church raced past visiting Solebury School, 67-27.

Vince Jackson added 18 points.

Girls' Basketball

Bianca Adams and Lauren Gold each dished out six assists as Abington Friends turned away visiting nonleague foe Perkiomen School, 65-48.

Gold scored a team-high 25 points, and Alexa Bowman added 18. Nicole Tupillo led Perkiomen with 28 points, including six three-pointers.

In another nonleague game, Maria Conyers-Jordan scored 27 points but Friends' Central fell at the Hun School, 64-42.

Wrestling

First-year Penn Charter coach David Priest posted his initial win as Penn Charter edged Germantown Friends, 32-30, in a nonleague match.

Alex Magers led the way with a second-period pin at 160 pounds.

Also in nonleague action:

Academy of the New Church won the final weight class to top Springside Chestnut Hill, 36-33. Brandon Russell captured the decisive win with a 51-second pin of Kevin O'Donnell at 160 pounds. George Kunkel, SCH's captain, wrestled up a class at 152 pounds and scored a decision.

Manny Vilmatelo needed just 47 seconds to record a pin at 220 pounds as Westtown rolled past St. Andrew's, 50-24.

Vincent Badali scored a pin in 3:19 to secure Academy of the New Church's 60-12 win over Valley Forge.
