With a 36-33 victory over Gateway on Monday, Haddonfield became the fifth South Jersey high school to win 600 matches in wrestling.

The Bulldogs have been wrestling since 1949. They have won 15 district titles, including nine in 10 years from 1962-71.

Haddonfield won overall Colonial Conference titles in 1965 and 1970, and captured the Colonial Liberty crown in 2010 and 2011.

"The number 600 is a significant one for the program, because more than other numbers in a sport viewed by most as individual, it represents the dedication and perseverance of all those who committed, sweat, and wrestled for Haddonfield," said Haddonfield principal Chuck Klaus, who was the Bulldogs' head wrestling coach for 15 seasons.

"The collective efforts are certainly something to take pride in."
