St. Joe's Prep claims Radnor tourney

St. Joseph's Prep, featuring three individual champions, won the 10-team Radnor Holiday Wrestling Tournament on Saturday. Sean Lyons, Tom Johnson, and Paul Johnson earned individual titles at 106 pounds, 182 pounds, and 285 pounds, respectively.

St. Joe's Prep, which finished with 200 team points, edged Radnor's 198.5 points.

Radnor featured two champions, Matt Pelton and Tom Meyers. Pelton won at 145 pounds, and Meyers earned the title at 152 pounds.

Lower Merion finished third in the tournament with 194 points.

The Aces had three individual titles. Scott Chieu at 138 pounds, Steffan Vestal at 170 pounds, and Eli Zimmer at 220 pounds highlighted Lower Merion's day.

Academy Park was the only other school to top 120 points, finishing in fourth with 172.5 points.

Rian Maurer and Abner Thompson won individual championships for Academy Park at 120 and 160 pounds, respectively.

Other individual champions included Episcopal Academy's Luke Brooman at 132 pounds; Sun Valley's Sean Donohue and Alex Elliott, who won at 113 pounds and 126 pounds, respectively; and Penn Wood's Karon Lucas-Tillery at 195 pounds.

Nonleague. Washington won at Archbishop Wood, 41-31.

Jamel Lux pinned Matt McWilliams in 1 minute, 32 seconds at 132 pounds, and Eibragin Ibongimov pinned Kevin Bongarzone in 1:52 at 170 pounds for Washington.
