Central Bucks East tops Mainland at Boardwalk Classic

The Patriots shot 50 percent from the floor after halftime and outscored Mainland, 14-2, in points off turnovers.

Brandon McGlaughlin led the way offensively with 11 points, and Matt Stauffer added 10. Tommy Strasburger had seven rebounds.

The Patriots outscored Mainland, 22-9, in the second half to pull away for the title in the Frank McAlarnen bracket.

Also at the Convention Center, Math, Civics & Sciences showed off its depth in a 74-55 victory over Dobbins in the Boardwalk Classic Showcase.

Jeremiah Worthem and Jeffon Powell each scored 13 points, and Britton Lee had 10. Powell pulled in a game-high eight rebounds.

Eleven players scored for the Mighty Elephants.

In the Jay Craven bracket, Bristol lost a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter and fell to Vineland, 52-47, in three overtimes in the championship game.

Maurice Towner led Bristol with 12, and Aidan Couglin added 11.

Nonleague. Pope John Paul II came roaring out of the break to defeat visiting Bishop McDevitt, 63-56. James Bleming sparked the big quarter, dishing four of his six assists in the period as the Golden Panthers went on a 16-10 run. Bleming finished with 13 points.

Brent Mahoney led Pope John Paul with 16 points, and Jamel Stinson had 11.

Tyrell Long scored a game-high 20 points for McDevitt, and Tyreek Fairfax chipped in with 16.

Girls' Basketball

Sarah Oliveria recorded a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds as Neshaminy captured its bracket of the Boardwalk Classic at Wildwoods Convention Center. Lori Paulitis added 10 points for the Redskins, who used a 14-5 run in the third quarter to pull away in the Jersey Cape bracket final.

Nikki Testa led Owen J. Roberts with 13 points. Theresa Walsh grabbed 10 rebounds.

Diamond State Classic. Behind Tanesha Sutton's 14 points and 11 rebounds, Neumann-Goretti defeated Bullis School (Md.) in a consolation game at St. Elizabeth's.

Alisha Kebbe added 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks for the Saints.
