Pa. Girls: Fri. Pa. girls: Merion Mercy downs Kennett

John Geary, Merion Mercy girls' lacrosse coach, saved Friday's last timeout for a situation such as this.

The Golden Bears were reeling after Kennett's three straight goals created a four-goal deficit with four minutes left.

Geary reminded his team of a motto it created earlier this season: It takes just seven seconds to score a goal. Stay patient, Geary said.

Emily D'Orazio, the team's leader, listened and tied the game with a pair of goals in the final minute before scoring the overtime winner to give Merion a 15-14 nonleague victory.

The senior midfielder scored on an isolation play with 43 seconds left in the second overtime. D'Orazio finished with a game-high eight goals.

Freshman Lauren Thomas stopped nine shots, and Olivia Nostrant and Caroline Corzel scored twice each.

Also in nonleague play:

Twins Taylor and Shannon Quinn scored four times each as Radnor cruised at Hatboro-Horsham, 16-4. Grace Collins sealed the win with seven saves.

Emma Dahle scored 10 goals and assisted on five others as Friends' Central rolled over visiting Cardinal O'Hara, 20-8. Ashley Tedesco added six goals.

Inter-Ac. M.C. Curran's six goals led Episcopal Academy past visiting Springside Chestnut Hill, 18-6.

Gabby Donatucci, a junior catcher, went 2 for 3 and drove in a pair of runs as Episcopal Academy nipped Springside Chestnut Hill, 3-2, in an Inter-Ac game.

Nonleague. Pitcher Val Buehler benefited from a 15-hit attack as Pennsbury, ranked second in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, won at No. 5 Conwell-Egan, 12-0.

Erica Ragazzone tied the game with a homer in the sixth and won it with a homer in the eighth as St. Hubert topped host Daniel Boone, 3-1.
