Pellegrini, who played football at Malvern (Class of 1990) and Georgetown, replaced his father, Gaspare "Gamp" Pellegrini, as the Friars coach in 2009.
According to a release issued by the school, Pellegrini spoke to his players Monday morning.
"I love representing Malvern football and I love coaching you guys," Pellegrini said to his players. "But at this point in my life, I am not able to give the time that this program deserves."
