The final 28 seconds of the basketball game between Bodine and Parkway Northwest on Monday was the apotheosis of the evening's nonleague bout.

With his team holding a one-point lead, Bodine's Derrick McLean dropped in a layup. Parkway Northwest then put in a rebound off a missed three-pointer at the other end, but it was not enough and Bodine won, 50-49, at home.

"From start to finish, it could have gone either way," Bodine coach Lynn Greer said. "The last couple of minutes were tough. They kept coming back and scoring."

McLean finished with 12 points, but it was the offensive showing of Troy Richardson - primarily in the second half - that powered the Ambassadors.

Sayzon Dunn (14 points) and Ahanri Briggs (13 points) led the scoring for Parkway Northwest.
