S. Jersey Boys: Council and Highland put away Williamstown

The Tartans went on to lose that game to Williamstown in triple overtime.

Thanks to Council, there would be no late heroics this time around.

The senior shooting guard scored a game-high 29 points, and added six steals and three assists on Saturday to lead the Tartans to a 60-49 victory over Williamstown in the Ginny Whitaker Holiday Tournament at Cherry Hill East.

Christian Scafidi added 11 points and 17 rebounds for Highland.

Hudson Etienne scored 13 to lead Williamstown.

Williamstown defeated Highland, 85-82, at last year's tournament.

Also at Cherry Hill East:

Tom Perry scored 26 points and Jake Silpe added 22 to propel the host Cougars to an 81-36 victory over Woodrow Wilson.

Boardwalk Ludman. Trai Greer had eight rebounds and five steals and Tim Toney had six steals to help Middle Township outlast Mastery North, 34-30, at Wildwoods Convention Center.

Boardwalk Troiano. Ray Young (31 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) scored on a fastbreak with 25 seconds remaining in overtime to give Camden County Tech the lead for good in its 53-50 victory over MaST Charter at Wildwoods Convention Center.

Pat Holden scored eight points but Lower Cape May fell to Montgomery Blair (Md.), 28-26.

Bridgewater-Raritan Christmas Tournament. John Armstead piled up 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals and a block and Medford Tech rolled over Central Jersey College Charter, 105-22.

James G. Atkinson Memorial Holiday Classic. Mike Cubbage had 15 points and four assists and Juan Hemingway added 14 points, five rebounds and four assists to lead Winslow Township to a 64-41 victory over Deptford at Gloucester Community College.

Mainland Invitational. Dean Deveney had 18 points and nine rebounds and Drew Dalzell scored 10 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter to help Mainland put away Lindenwold, 51-33.

Kelvin Rivera scored a game-high 19 points, but Hammonton was edged by Bridgeton, 41-40.

Butch McLean Memorial Tournament. Rob DePersia (25 points) and Nick DePersia (18 points) helped host Haddonfield down Delsea, 61-53.

Liam O'Connor led all players with 14 points in Seneca's 63-36 triumph over Triton.

Panthers Christmas Showcase. Jamal Holloway paired 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead host Camden past Pennsauken, 73-56.

Primetime ESCIT Christmas Tournament. Brendan Ruby scored 17 points, but Rancocas Valley fell to Bartram, 59-57, in the Frantz Massenat Bracket at Trenton Catholic.

Score at the Shore. Trevor Little had 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists to help Oakcrest slip by Wall Township, 55-52, at Southern Regional.

Dantae Jenkins scored 11 points but Atlantic Tech fell to Southern Regional, 71-47. Peyton Wejnert scored 30 points for Southern Regional.

Spartan Classic. Elijah Pettis went 8 for 8 from three-point range in the fourth quarter of host Doane Academy's 93-23 victory over City Center.

Jordan Russell scored 12 points to lead Lenape past Steinert, 59-30.

Michael Muchowski scored 13 points to lead Florence to a 42-24 victory over Olney.

Under Armour Holiday Classic. Justyn Mutts had 23 points and 14 rebounds to help St. Augustine cut down Kearny (Calif.), 63-51, in San Diego.

Riverwinds Coaches vs. Cancer. Brandon Cazan (30 points, 11 rebounds) and Connor McLaughlin (10 assists) guided Bishop Eustace past Delran, 59-34, at Riverwinds Community Center.

Wrestling

Three wrestlers took home titles for the home team at the Collingswood Christmas Tournament, which the host Panthers won with 202.5 points.

Shawn Clark won at 145 pounds, Colin Lex won at 160 pounds and Ryan Harper won at 285.

Clark pinned all three of his opponents in the first period.

Dom Patacky (113) pinned his final opponent in 16 seconds to help Washington Township claim second place with 125 points.

Anthony Foggia (120), Vincent Hellthaler (126) and Vincent Foggia (132) all captured titles for Northern Burlington, which placed third (118).

Mustang Classic. Mickey Croce of host Paulsboro ground out a 3-2 decision in the final match to claim the title at 145. St. Augustine's Nick Clark earned a 1-0 decision over Paulsboro's Zach Richard to win at 170.

Palmyra Holiday Tournament. Westampton Tech's Amir Harper earned a 12-6 decision in the championship bout to claim the 138-pound title. Connor Mullarkey (106), Chase Mullarkey (113), Greg Long (126), Robert Rodolico (132), Avery DiNardi (160), Kenny Long (182) and Matt Correnti (195) claimed titles for Holy Cross.
