St. Joseph weathers rally by Paul VI for 73-72 win

Jordan Davis' field goal and a free throw from Val Valdino gave St. Joseph a four-point lead with less than 10 seconds remaining. B.J. Mitchell scored 25 points, and sophomore Jordan Herrin had 21 rebounds to go along with nine points.

Lonnie Moore led Paul VI with 29 points, and Will Cabbler added 18.

The Wildcats led by 12 heading into the final period.

In another nail-biter at Paul VI, Keith Davis' buzzer-beater forced a third overtime, but Eastern couldn't hold off Philadelphia's Del-Val Charter in an 80-78 loss. DaShon Giddings (28 points) won it with a floater in the lane as time expired. Semaj Motley's three-pointer at the end of regulation tied it at 65.

Maliq Sanders led the Vikings with 19 points. Justin Fredericks had 15, and Keith Davis and Logan Edwards each had 12. John Salicandro had 11 points and 10 assists.

Primetime ESCIT. Adam Perry and Shaun Ellis-Bradley each scored 12 points as Rancocas Valley topped Newark Tech, 47-44, at Trenton Catholic in the Frantz Massenat bracket. Jordan Cole added 11.

Boardwalk Classic. Paul Bellamy's 10 points and 13 rebounds paced Cherokee to a 53-39 defeat of Schalick in the John Carlson Memorial Bracket at the Wildwoods Convention Center. Grant Gibson had 15 points.

Mikal Poteat's nine points and nine rebounds helped Wildwood come away with a 44-35 win over Devon Prep (Pa.) in the Bernie McCracken Memorial bracket. Jahnire Coleman scored 16 points.

Also in the Bernie McCracken Memorial, Connor Laverty scored 19 points and had six rebounds, and Ocean City eased past King's Christian, 56-22.

Mainland Invitational. Malik Muldrow scored 17 and Bryant Geddes added 15 to lead Lindenwold past Hammonton in a consolation game at Mainland.

Girls' Basketball

Kayla Mayers scored 16 points and Paige Caldwell added 14 to carry Woodstown past West Deptford, 48-27, at the Riverwinds Community Center.

Boardwalk Classic. Haley Parks erupted for 34 points, and Delsea rolled past West Catholic, 49-27, in the Big Al Memorial bracket consolation game at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

A balanced Middle Township knocked off Brandywine (Del.), 46-27, in the opener of the Ray Martin Memorial Bracket. Ashley Ryan scored 12, Bridgette Ruskey added 11 and Summer Sides had 10.
