New York Giants

The Giants replaced Hakeem Nicks with Louisiana State wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in the first round. Beckham was one of the top players in the draft and can have an immediate impact for the Giants. . . . Colorado State center Weston Richburg was taken in the second round, the first center selected. The Giants need to bolster their offensive line, so Richburg can help. . . . Fourth-round pick Andre Williams rushed for nearly 2,200 yards at Boston College last season. . . . The Giants like to use a three-safety defense at times, and fifth-round pick Nat Behre from San Diego State could factor into that group.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys bypassed the appeal of quarterback Johnny Manziel in the first round and instead went with Notre Dame offensive lineman Zack Martin, who is able to play all the positions on the line and was considered to be one of the safer picks in the draft. . . . They upgraded their pass rush in the second round with Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence, who will help the Cowboys compensate for the loss of DeMarcus Ware. . . . The Cowboys drafted seven players to help the worst defense in the NFL, including fourth-round linebacker Anthony Hitchens and seventh-round safety Ahmad Dixon.

Washington Redskins

The Redskins lacked a first-round pick because of the Robert Griffin III trade. They traded back in the second round to add a pick, and came out of Day 2 with Stanford pass rusher Trent Murphy, Virginia offensive tackle Morgan Moses, and Nebraska guard Spencer Long. Both of the offensive linemen are potential starters to help keep Griffin upright. . . . Fourth-round cornerback Bashaud Breeland from Clemson was productive for the Tigers last season, and sixth-round running back Lache Seastrunk from Baylor adds speed.
