Final day of Penn Relays underway
11:56 a.m.: Dan Ferraiolo stretched out his neck, crossed the finish line and crashed to the ground.
The Malvern Prep anchor gave it all he had to capture the Inter-Ac 4x400 championship at the Penn Relays. He ran a 49.85 split to hold off Haverford School's Charlie Hoyt by just 14-hundreths of a second.
The Friars finished in 3:23.65, about nine seconds off the qualifying time for this afternoon's final. St. Elizabeth Tech of Jamaica finished in 3:13.28 for the top overall time.
The Catholic and Public League teams will race at 12:45 between the USA vs. the World women and men's 4x100 races. – Matt Breen
10:00 a.m. – The final day of the Penn Relays has started at Franklin Field and Jamaican fans gathered outside the stadium this morning waving flags. Saturday is their day at the carnival.
The annual USA vs. the World event starts at 12:35 with the women's 4x100. The men's 4x100 is scheduled a half hour later.
The Jamaican men's team features Michael Frater, who won gold with Usain Bolt in the 4x100 at the 2012 London Olympics. Bolt is not scheduled to appear, but the event's official merchandise tent is selling a green t-shirt with his likeness.
Earlier in the morning, Neshaminy's Dave Marrington finished fourth in the boys' 400 meters hurdles final. He finished in 53.37 seconds. – Matt Breen
