Wednesday's South Jersey roundup: Clearview field hockey falls to Moorestown in Group 3 semifinals

The Clearview field hockey team fell to Moorestown, 5-1, in the state Group 3 semifinals on Wednesday.

Clearview claimed the first sectional title in school history when it defeated defending champion Ocean City in the South Group 3 final.

Jill Verrelle scored the lone goal for the Pioneers.

Delaney Lawler scored two goals for Moorestown, which won the Central Group 3 title. Colleen Craven, Kayla Frank, and Avery Powell also found the back of the net.

The Quakers will play for their first group state title since 2006 when they face Warren Hills Saturday at Bordentown.

Jaimie McCormick scored a career-high five goals as Haddonfield rolled past Schalick, 8-1, in the state Group 1 semifinals.

Bridget McCormick, Sophie Popp, and Molly Sheehan had one goal apiece for the Bulldawgs, who will play Madison in Saturday's state final at Bordentown.

Haddonfield defeated Madison, 2-1, in last season's state title game. Saturday will be the third consecutive state final appearance for the Bulldawgs.

Kara Heck and Jessica Maute each had two goals in Eastern's 7-1 triumph over Lenape in the state Group 4 semifinals.

Madison Guyer, Amanda Middleman, and Olivia Perrone also scored for the Vikings, who will play Bridgewater-Raritan for the state title.

Boys' Soccer

Gio Narhwold scored the lone goal as Palmyra took down Schalick, 1-0, in the South Group 1 semifinals. The Panthers will face Glassboro in Friday's sectional final.
