Vinnie Pini, a dangerous senior wide receiver and return man from Burlington Township, has made an oral commitment to attend Bucknell.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Pini, who also played defensive back, became the second South Jersey recruit to commit to Bucknell, joining Bishop Eustace center Mike Spear.

Pini had 31 receptions for 452 yards and three touchdowns in helping the 6-4 Falcons earn a South Jersey Group 3 playoff berth. He also averaged 24.86 yards per punt return with three touchdowns. Pini averaged 32.5 yards on five kickoff returns and had one touchdown.

Not surprisingly, Bucknell has recruited Pini as both a receiver and return man. He visited the campus last weekend.

"I really liked the campus, the players, and coaching staff, and it's a place I will get a good education," Pini said.

Among the other colleges that Pini had contact with were Maine, Colgate, New Hampshire, and Villanova.

Also a track standout, he said he was keeping his options open about competing in track. During the spring, Pini finished eighth in the Tournament of Champions 400 meters with a time of 49.95 seconds. He was ninth in the 200 in 22.05.

Pini said he is hoping to be a business major.
