Tues. S.J. girls' roundup: Bordentown, Wash. Twp. earn bowling titles

Gareis took home the NJSIAA State Trophy by rolling a high game of 277, and West Deptford's Morgan Brown claimed the silver medal with a 245 game.

In the all-group semifinals, Bordentown fell to Manchester Township, 3-0, while Washington Township suffered a 3-1 loss to eventual champion Brick Township.

Girls' Basketball

Delran and Pemberton each clinched at least a share of their respective Burlington County League division crowns with home wins.

Delran used clutch foul shooting down the stretch to hold off Willingboro, 43-39, ensuring the Bears (8-2 division) of at least a tie for Patriot Division title.

Taylor Umbrell (16 points) and Tara Ballay combined to make 11 of 14 from the line over the final eight minutes for Delran. Micahya Owens had 15 points and Taylor Lewis added 10 for Willingboro, which began the day in a first-place tie with Delran and Holy Cross.

Pemberton claimed at least a tie atop the Freedom Division with a 42-33 win over Palmyra. Jasmine Smith had 15 points, Bria Champion posted 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Tempest Lewis dealt 10 assists for the Hornets (13-1).

Afia Agyemang (24 points) scored the go-ahead layup with 20 seconds left, and Ashley Vann and Rachael Ford each added a foul shot in the waning moments to cement host Burlington City's 62-59 victory over Florence. The late surge spoiled a 33-point outing by the Flashes' Sarah Muchowski.

Olympic. Timber Creek and Shawnee maintained their two-game race for the Patriot Division crown.

Jasmine Martin scored 12 of her 28 points in a game-opening 16-5 run, putting first-place Timber Creek (8-0 division) on track for a 75-34 rout at Pennsauken. Deanna Miller (11 points) and Sierra Peters (10) aided the Chargers' attack, which featured scoring from 10 players.

Second-place Shawnee (7-1) kept its title hopes alive by slipping past host Cherry Hill West, 45-39. Kelsey Kennedy and Marina Mestres scored 10 points apiece for the Renegades, who iced the victory by converting 8 of 9 free throws in the fourth quarter.

The National Division title remains up for grabs between Seneca and Camden Catholic, who maintained their first-place tie with convincing victories.

Brittany Snow led the way with 20 points and 11 rebounds, Kristy Connor established her season high with 15 points, and Melissa Giunta contributed 12 points and seven assists in steering host Seneca (7-1) past Paul VI, 74-61. Carla Chmielewski tossed in 19 points for the Eagles.

Addy Crenny's double-double, featuring 25 points and a dozen rebounds, was more than enough for host Camden Catholic (7-1) to cruise past Camden, 55-16.

Tori Neill stole the ball on four consecutive possessions in the final 1 minute, 20 seconds - keying an 8-0 run that enabled host Eastern to rally past Lenape, 40-37. Andrea Okoro battled inside for 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Amy Solinski scored 6 of her 10 points in the Vikings' 17-9 fourth-quarter comeback.

Shanice Maynard capped her 20-point performance by shooting 4 for 4 from the line in the final period, and Kamari Talley chipped in 18 points and eight rebounds to make host Woodrow Wilson a 49-46 winner over Bishop Eustace. The Crusaders overcame an 11-point halftime deficit behind 22 points by Hope Phillips.

Host Cherry Hill East ran its record to 19-0, getting double-figure scoring from five players in a 63-36 rout of Washington Township. Marie Boisvert's 16 points paced the Cougars' balanced attack, which offset a 23-point outing by Township's Kylie Giedemann.

Winslow Township's tandem of Tashay March (22 points) and Jada Matthews (18) proved too tough for Triton to contain, as the visiting Eagles soared to an early 16-point lead and coasted home with a 72-34 win. Deja Bullock scored 17 for the Mustangs.

Colonial. Liberty Division-leading Sterling stormed past visiting West Deptford, 69-40, behind a career-high 20 points by sophomore guard Anyssa Sanchez. Tanjae Lewis contributed 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocks for the Silver Knights. Tina D'Aiutolo's 17 points paced the Eagles.

Haddonfield had its way at Haddon Heights, as Catherine Senopoulos (18 points) knocked down four shots from beyond the arc in the Bulldogs' 61-26 romp.

Haddon Township held onto the Patriot Division lead with a 29-9 win at Lindenwold.

Lavon Childress poured in 33 points and Tiaja Harrold netted 21, powering Paulsboro to a 58-50 triumph at Gateway. The Gators fell despite 26 points by Meghan Nowak.

Megan Fox of Woodbury took game scoring honors with 21 points, but Alex Gravinese (14 points) and visiting Audubon came out on top, 48-40.

Eboni Reid set her season high with 23 points and Keanna Ross cleared 17 rebounds to go with five steals to help host Overbrook nip Collingswood, 45-43. Erica Witherbee and Ellie O'Neill scored 19 apiece for the Panthers.

Tri-County. Antoinette Winchester and Taylor Smith combined for 27 points and 26 rebounds as host Penns Grove doubled up Cumberland, 40-20.

Steph Williams (13 points) hit the go-ahead layup with 1:15 to go, and host Clayton held on to edge Salem, 34-32.

Liz Looby pumped in 25 points, including all of Highland's scoring in overtime, as the Tartans outlasted host Deptford, 45-44.

Taylor Blackiston found her range in the second half, scoring 13 of her 17 after intermission as Gloucester pulled away from host Schalick, 46-18.
