Bischof places 28th at Foot Locker

Bishop Eustace's Holly Bischof closed out her scholastic cross-country career by finishing 28th at the Foot Locker National Cross-Country Championships at Balboa Park in San Diego on Saturday.

Bischof, the Inquirer's South Jersey cross-country runner of the year, ran the 5-kilometer course in a time of 18 minutes, 18 seconds, helping the Northeast team to a second-place finish.

Bischof, who has run most of the season with a shin injury, qualified for the meet with a fourth-place finish at the Northeast Regionals on Nov. 26 in Long Island with a time of 18:24. That followed dominating first-place performances at the New Jersey Meet of Champions and the State Non-Public A races.

Molly Seidel of Hartland, Wisconsin, won the girls' race with a time of 17:22. Edward Cheserek, a junior from St. Benedict's in Newark, N.J. captured the boys' championship with a time of 14:51.
