Amanda Offenback, Holy Cross

On a team with so much young promise, it can be easy to overlook the player who has "more or less carried us for the last two years," as Holy Cross girls' basketball coach Fred Philipps said of Offenback, a 5-foot-11 senior forward.

On a team with so much young promise, it can be easy to overlook the player who has "more or less carried us for the last two years," as Holy Cross girls' basketball coach Fred Philipps said of Offenback, a 5-foot-11 senior forward.

Offenback is the lone senior starter on a team with immeasurable young talent in freshman small forward Aliyah Jeune and sophomore guards Alliya Butts and Ashli Jeune.

But Offenback, herself a recruit of Monmouth University, is less than 200 points from 1,000 for her career, and is perhaps the key to the Lancers' ability to jell and have success this season.

"My expectations are very high," Offenback said. "It's my senior year, and I'm hoping to bring home a championship to Holy Cross."

Offenback, a solid shooter and defender, averaged 12.2 points per game last season.

She describes herself as a vocal leader and isn't afraid to offer advice to younger teammates.

"I try to be up front and tell the younger players what they have to do to be successful," Offenback said. "Their ears have been open, and they do take my advice and pointers well. Hopefully, it works out for us this season."
