Tues. S.J. boys' roundup: Lenape rebounds against C.H. East

After dropping two of its last three games and falling from The Inquirer's boys' basketball Top 10, host Lenape regrouped in a big way on Tuesday by taking down No. 9 Cherry Hill East, 59-39.

Tabu Gaither tossed in 21 points and Avery Brown made four shots from beyond the arc in scoring 20 for the Indians, who took control of the Olympic Conference American Division game with a 29-12 surge over the second and third quarters.

Jake Gurkin, with 11 points, was the lone Cougar scorer in double figures.

In other Olympic action:

Ron Curry capped his 27-point performance by scoring 16 in the fourth quarter, including 10 for 10 from the foul line, to power third-ranked Paul VI to a 62-46 win at Camden. Amir Maddred (18 points) and the Panthers carried a two-point lead into the second quarter.

Carson Puriefoy led all scorers with 29 points, but needed teammate Ryan Bland to toss in half of his 16 points down the stretch for fourth-ranked Bishop Eustace to put away visiting Camden Catholic, 59-50. Kyle Green's 20 points kept the Irish within striking distance.

Colonial. Senior guard James Bullock poured in 30 points, including his 1,000th on a third-quarter free throw, to highlight Overbrook's 76-68 home win over Sterling. Jerry Crismond's 22 points kept the Silver Knights close.

Fifth-ranked Paulsboro put away the Patriot Division title in convincing fashion, getting balanced scoring in blowing away host Gateway, 72-34.

Dwaun Martin (14 points, 11 assists) and Cameron Gamble (10 points, 12 rebounds) stole the spotlight for host Woodbury, which placed six scorers in double figures while leveling Lindenwold, 77-58.

Cape-Atlantic. Ocean City's Matt Bosch scored 15, including a first-quarter trey that boosted his career total to 1,000 points, but the host Red Raiders had little else to cheer in a 76-48 loss to sixth-ranked St. Augustine. The Hermits had 11 players score, led by Blake Russell's 18 points.

Avery Walker (14 points) hit a jumper in the lane with 2.1 seconds to go in regulation, making host Oakcrest a 56-55 winner over Sacred Heart.

Khari Harley's basket gave Egg Harbor Township a three-point cushion with 22 seconds remaining, and his rebound on Millville's final shot enabled the host Eagles to edge Millville, 40-39.

Karma Segers and Darrell Jackson had 18 points apiece, and their clutch scoring down the stretch enabled Bridgeton to hold on for a 57-56 victory at Middle Township.

Miguel Munoz (16 points) nailed a pair of three-point baskets in overtime to help Lower Cape May outlast host Hammonton, 44-43. Christian Mortellite scored 18 for the Blue Devils, who climbed back into the game with a 16-0 third-quarter run.

Burlington County. Elijah Cain ignited a 23-4 second-quarter spree by scoring 11 of his 16 points as eighth-ranked Medford Tech rode a balanced attack to a 55-43 win at Florence. Kennedy Chukwuocha (16 points), Myles Powell (13), and Donte Ali (10) rounded out the Jaguars' scoring.

Host Holy Cross marched past Bordentown, 58-42, with Lloyd Smith scoring 14 of his 22 points after intermission.

Tri-County. Eric Stafford led Pitman with 13 points, including a pair of free throws with 17 seconds left that gave the Panthers the lead for good in a 43-41 win at Highland.

Cedric Elleby turned in a monster game - featuring 18 points, 15 rebounds, four steals, and two blocks - and Ryan Colone (18 points) provided perimeter scoring in Delsea's 61-25 romp past visiting Gloucester.

Junior forward Kenny McNichols contributed 17 points and a season-high 16 rebounds to help host Clearview club Clayton, 83-48.

Nonleague. Senior center Chris Washington set a career high with 32 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and blocked four shots to carry host Woodstown past Camden Academy Charter, 68-51.

Andrew Ordille scored 14 of his 24 points in the third quarter, to rally St. Joseph to a 58-52 victory at Glassboro.
