Thurs. S.J. girls' roundup: Shawnee takes Olympic Patriot

Shawnee won its first girls' basketball division championship since 2002 and claimed the Olympic Conference Patriot Division crown for the first time on Thursday, when the Renegades took command early and rolled, 68-46, at Winslow Township.

Erin Molina scored 10 of her 19 points in a game-opening 22-8 barrage. Kelsey Kennedy (16 points), Olivia Askin (13), and Nikola Williams (10) also scored in double figures for the eighth-ranked Renegades.

Jocelynne Jones posted 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists for Township.

In other Olympic action:

Brianna Wylie scored 15 points to lead sixth-ranked Lenape past visiting Cherokee, 43-30, ensuring at least a share of the American Division title for the Indians.

Nicole Angelo tossed in 23 points, eight in the third quarter, as Camden Catholic escaped with a 57-54 win at Woodrow Wilson. Kamari Talley (20 points) and Chanelle Perry (15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks) keyed the Tigers' comeback from an early 10-point deficit.

With 14 points and 11 rebounds, Lati Stafford powered host Pennsauken, and the Indians' defense limited Cherry Hill West to three points in the first half en route to a 38-24 triumph.

Burlington County. Second-ranked Delran converted four of five free throws in the final minute to seal a 49-42 home win over No. 7 Holy Cross.

Aliyah Murray came through with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and four steals for the Bears, who took over sole possession of first place in the Patriot Division.

Simi Adewumi dominated the low post, piling up 23 points and 20 rebounds; Carin Arlin contributed 15 points and five steals; and Alicia Bradley dished out six assists as Burlington Township bounced host Burlington City, 67-33.

Colonial. Haddonfield cruised past visiting Paulsboro, 50-35, to finish in a tie atop the Liberty Division with Sterling.

Anyssa Sanchez and Tyra Satchell combined for 28 points in Sterling's 55-19 romp past visiting Lindenwold.

Sara DeCinque buried four shots from beyond the arc in scoring 20 points, and host Haddon Township used an 18-10 game-ending run to finish off Collingswood, 43-34.

Tri-County. A pair of free throws by Nikki Adams (13 points) with 30 seconds remaining enabled Schalick to hold on for a 42-41 victory at Highland. The Tartans fell despite a second-half rally fueled by Ayanna Williams (18 points).

Madison McClintock and Johanna James combined for 31 points to lead Classic Division champion Gloucester, which started fast but struggled to put away host Kingsway, 39-32.

Wildwood received 18 points apiece from Serena Seijo and Jessica Freeman, with Freeman netting a key three-pointer and a pair of late free throws to seal the Warriors' 45-42 win at Clearview. Kennedi Thompson and Sara Kramer scored 13 points each for the Pioneers.

Chelsea Schmidt led Glassboro's balanced attack with 12 points, Vanessa Brown provided 11 points and stifling defense, and Beth Shivers battled inside for 16 rebounds and four blocked shots as the host Bulldogs mauled Pitman, 53-30.

Nonleague. Gabriel Ashman (21 points), Jackie McClellan (17) and Jill Dombrowski (13) supplied the bulk of Maple Shade's scoring in a 65-53 victory over visiting Buena. The Chiefs' Caroline Santiago had a game-high 24 points.

Swimming

A record-setting performance highlighted top-seeded Haddonfield's 104-66 victory over No. 2 seed Oakcrest in the South Jersey Public B final.

Laura Defeo, Anne Nicoletti, Julie Sheehan and Alex Lincoln won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1 minute, 41.26 seconds - eclipsing the previous school mark of 1:42.10 set in 2006.

State Non-Public B. Fifth-seeded Gloucester Catholic took its quarterfinal down to the final event, but No. 4 seed St. Elizabeth captured first and third place in the 400 freestyle relay to win, 88-82.

Emily Shenk provided the Rams' two individual event victories, taking the 100 freestyle (57.72) and the 100 backstroke (1:01.59).
