S. Jersey Girls: Haddonfield girls win tourney

The championship stage wasn't too much for freshman Briana Gess on Saturday afternoon. Gess scored seven of her 14 points in the fourth quarter to help lead the Haddonfield girls' basketball team to a 43-37 win over Delran in the championship game of the Haddonfield Tournament.

Gess, who led the Bulldogs in scoring, also dished out four assists and tallied four steals. Sophomore forward Taylor Sehdev added 11 points, 5 steals and 4 assists.

Nicole Bayer led Delran with a game-high 21 points.

Boardwalk Classic. Nikola Williams' 15 points and 10 rebounds helped pace Shawnee to a 37-29 victory over Middle Township in the championship game of the Michelle Tarbotton bracket. The Renegades outscored Middle Township, 23-12, in the first half.

Alexis Olson led Cape May Tech's offense with 12 points, and the Hawks staved off Delsea, 37-32 in a consolation game in the Frank McAlarnen bracket. Delsea's Shelby McCarty led all scorers with 14 points.

Lady Lions Tournament. A 17-point, 10-rebound performance by Lauren Moses helped Rancocas Valley secure a 57-40 triumph over Lincoln (N.J.) in the championship game at Jersey City. The Red Devils held a 21-6 lead after the first quarter.

Carol Stutzer-Harris Tournament. Cheyenne Clark continued her dominance of this tournament in a 49-36 victory for Deptford over host Paul VI. Clark scored 18 points and grabbed 19 rebounds. She also tallied five blocks and three steals. Deptford's Immani Bussie led all scorers with 19 points.

Alayxiah Carr scored all of her 10 points in the first quarter as Haddon Township cruised past Pennsauken, 57-27. The Hawks outpaced Pennsauken, 28-6, by the end of the first quarter. Morgan Lenahan scored 17 points to go along with five assists and four steals.

Riverside Tournament. Cherry Hill West rallied from 10 points down at halftime to edge Haddon Heights, 45-43. Sasha Williams led the Lions with 14 points. Nadja Riggs scored a game-high 21 points for Haddon Heights, and Jynazha Davis added 15 points.

Tiasia Tatem and Kayla Chapman each scored 15 points as Salem downed host Riverside, 48-41. The Rams outscored Riverside, 19-10, in the third quarter after going into halftime down by four.

Lenape Holiday Showcase. Seneca rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to sneak past Clearview, 59-55. Erica Snow led the Golden Eagles with 24 points. Freshman Sam Andrews added 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
